Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the Staff Psychologist independently provides school-based psychological assessment, treatment, and consultation for students attending the Bradley Schools. Staff Psychologists also may provide supervision of undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral psychology trainees (e.g., practicum students and clinical psychology residents and postdoctoral fellows).
Candidates may be eligible for a faculty appointment through Alpert Medical School. For those with faculty appointments, some teaching and supervision of trainees will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff psychologists participate actively in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of Bradley School students. This entails:
* Keeping current and knowledgeable regarding the medical, developmental, and family histories, clinical diagnoses, and treatment protocols of students on assigned teams.
* Providing quality clinical services to all assigned students.
* Providing leadership and role modeling to multidisciplinary staff in maintaining a standard of high quality care for all students within the school program.
Staff psychologists serve as treatment team leaders for Bradley School classrooms. This entails:
* Reviewing all available student records prior to admission for students on assigned teams and sharing relevant information with the appropriate team members
* Overseeing and coordinating plans for the assessment, treatment, and education of all students in assigned classrooms.
* Facilitating cooperative working relationships among team members.
* Leading weekly team meetings, as well as formal meetings that include parents, school district personnel, or other community professionals (e.g., IEP/PPT meetings, behavioral reviews, transition planning meetings) for all students in assigned classrooms.
* Producing high-quality team reports, letters, or other required documentation in a timely manner.
* Communicating effectively with special education directors, school representatives, and other community contacts/providers.
* Consulting with the school nurse, psychiatrist, and outside medical providers regarding medical and/or psychiatric issues, as needed.
* Maintaining proactive, effective communication with the Clinical Director regarding clinical and administrative issues.
* Using effective leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills to maintain effective functioning of assigned teams.
* Maintaining a balance of clinical and systemic perspectives in leading assigned teams.
Staff psychologists deliver psychological services for students admitted to the school program or referred for outpatient consultation. This entails:
* Providing diagnostic assessment services for students, as needed.
* Supervising the interpretation of classroom-based assessment data in the planning, implementation, and review phases of treatment for students.
* Providing case management, as assigned.
* Providing individual, family, and/or group therapy, as assigned.
* Providing consultation regarding behavior management, as assigned.
* Providing outpatient consultation, as assigned.
* Completing all required psychological reports and records in a professional and timely manner, as assigned.
* Providing in-service education opportunities for school staff, as well as in the community, as requested.
Staff psychologists may provide supervision of undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral psychology/psychiatry trainees (e.g., practicum students, clinical psychology residents and postdoctoral fellows, child psychiatry fellows), as assigned. This entails:
* Providing reliable, high-quality supervision of trainees, as assigned and appropriate.
* Participating in teaching of psychology/psychiatry trainees, as assigned.
* Providing research supervision, if appropriate and assigned.
* Maintaining active faculty status that is appropriate/required for assigned trainees.
Staff psychologists adhere to all school policies, procedures, and practices. This entails:
* Attending and/or completing in-service programs, as assigned.
* Maintaining crisis de-escalation and intervention certification.
* Consistently following all school policies and procedures.
* Consistently complying with infection control, quality improvement, risk management, and safety standards.
* Being punctual, reliable, and judicious in using sick time and school time off (STO), as per school policy.
* Demonstrating knowledge of the school organizational chart and consistently communicating issues and concerns through that structure.
* Participating in training seminars, as requested.
* Participating in committees, as requested.
* Performing other related duties, as required, assigned, or directed.
Staff psychologists provide effective leadership, as well as guidance and support, to their assigned teams, as needed or requested. This entails:
* Supporting BS and program-specific initiatives, modeling flexibility and a positive attitude regarding program changes and/or initiatives.
* Presenting any classroom equipment/supply/staffing needs or concerns to site management.
* Coordinating any student/staff issues/needs with appropriate school management in order to problem solve and resolve concerns or problems effectively and in a timely manner.
* Effectively leading weekly treatment team meetings and other school meetings, as described above.
* Maintaining excellent relationships with all systems involved in a student's care.
* Providing community leadership in the area of understanding and treating severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
* Performing other leadership duties, as assigned.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, as well as state licensure or eligibility for state licensure. A postdoctoral fellowship in a relevant area is preferred. Consideration may be given to licensed psychologists with doctorates in Counseling or School Psychology, if they evidence specific skill in providing clinical/administrative services within the Bradley School or similar settings.
Requires demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to school-aged youth, with consideration of developmental processes, as well as cultural, familial, and individual factors that may influence educational, emotional, and behavioral functioning and progress.
EXPERIENCE:
One to two years of supervised postdoctoral experience within the field of Clinical Child and Adolescent psychology preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is within a school classroom and/or office environment. Employees in this position work in a special education setting under stressful conditions associated with care of students with severe emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental challenges (which may include aggressive and/or self-injurious behaviors).
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within BS policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Program Director, School Consultation Service, the Staff Psychologist will take the lead in providing direct consultation and training in evidence-based practices to our partnerships in schools and community organizations, as well as working to address arising consultative needs. Responsibility to apply specific knowledge regarding various evidence-based treatment modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT) to consultative services. Has expertise in the treatment of psychiatrically impaired adolescents, parent guidance and school-based mental health. The Staff Psychologist will take an active role in contributing to SCS's program, curriculum development and program evaluation efforts. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Provides consultation on evidence-based mental health practices and their implementation in school and community-based settings (e.g., camp and afterschool programs). Includes topics such exposures, cognitive restructuring, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills for students in schools and other settings.
2) Assists in development of program services including but not limited to professional development trainings for school staff members, school-based group curricula, caregiver presentations and resources, and program evaluation efforts.
3) Works collaboratively with team members to co-create and co-deliver program services.
4) Provides supervision and peer supervision as relating to consultation services.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong background in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and/or Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Experience in consultation and/or working in schools is a plus.

Required Qualifications
Knowledge about Positive Behavior Supports and current treatment strategies for individuals with ID and/or ASD.

Knowledge of principles and practices of tests and measurements used in ascertaining intelligence, aptitudes, personality, and related mental and physical traits.
Be well versed in the administration and interpretation of psychological tests, motivational interviewing, autism experience across the lifespan, trauma informed care.

Our clinic sees clients from preschool age through adulthood but primarily focuses on school-aged children, adolescents and transitional-aged adults. Housed within a graduate school of psychology, we are a training clinic that values collaboration, ongoing learning and a passion for serving individuals from historically underserved populations.
Essential Functions
Provide direct supervision to practicum students, interns and postdoctoral fellows
Work closely with the executive director and administrative staff to help provide administrative oversight.
Participate in the interview and hiring process for all future staff, interns, and fellows.
Present at a didactic seminar two to four times a year.
Communicate with families and manage disputes with insurance companies as needed
Participate in a weekly staff meeting.
Conduct approximately 3 cases a month and participate in IEP meetings and/or school visits as needed.
Education and Experience
Doctorate in psychology and three years of job-related experience
Superb clinical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Prior supervision experience preferred
Willingness to be paneled with Blue Cross and MassHealth (under the group number for MassHealth).
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Customer-service oriented with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Strong attention to detail
Familiarity with assessment of children, individuals with autism, and individuals with learning differences is preferred.
