The Psychometrician will provide oversight of the technical quality of educational assessment and analysis activities.
Job Responsibilities
• Leads technical operational and research projects
• Plans, coordinates, and performs statistical analysis for basic and/or segments of complex project or work assignments.
• Works independently on most phases of statistical and/or psychometric analysis and provides guidance to less experienced psychometricians.
• Provides guidance and oversight to project staff on technical aspects of their work.
• Represents organization's position on technical issues to clients, external boards and panels, professional associations, and other agencies.
• Accountable for basic and complex statistical design and analysis decisions such as variance estimations (weighting), sample design, statistical modeling, and psychometrics.

Job Requirements

• Advanced training in psychometric research and statistics including item response theory, scaling and equating, Monte Carlo methods, sample design and computer programming.

**POSITION PURPOSE**

Administers and scores psychological tests used to assess psychological and neuropsychological disorders.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Administers and score prescribed psychological and neuropsychological tests to referred patients in a standardized manner, to ensure accuracy and reliability of results and continuity across patients. Observes patient behavior during neuropsychological evaluation, records findings on patient performance and prepares written summaries describing behaviors characteristics relevant to diagnosis. Ensures timely generation and submission of accurate post-test reports for use by the Psychologist in making diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Maintains confidentiality and security of administered tests and test results, in accordance with defined standards of ethical practice. Adapts test and /or testing situation to individual patients based on independent assessments of patient's needs or condition. Communicates with patient and their families in order to prepare patients for testing, to explain test procedures and purpose (s), and to ensure patient comfort with the testing process. Maintains level of competence and expertise in new or improved testing techniques, instruments and methodologies, through continuing education programs and attendance at conferences/ seminars. Assists with collection and collation of research data as assigned. Maintains patient records and inventory of test materials Provides quality patient care considering age specific developmental and cultural needs through competent practice and application of the physical rehabilitation process.

**REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE**

Education: Requires Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters Degree preferred.

Experience: More than six months on the job training or previous experience.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

+ Knowledge of normal and abnormal human behaviors, psychological theories, psychometric testing and statistics.

+ Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with learning impaired patients, their families, schools and community agency representatives when gathering patient's data, explaining testing procedures and allaying fears.

+ Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details for up to eighty percent of work time when administering and scoring psychometric tests.

+ Ability to walk and stand up to ten percent of work time when walking to patient floors to obtain histories.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, coordinate, and conduct the statistical work required for score reporting and data interpretation for multiple basic programs and/or segments of complex testing programs.
Develop score interpretation materials and testing program publications. Conduct and report on complex research. Work independently on most phases of statistical analysis. May provide guidance to less experienced psychometricians.
Complete statistical and research plans and review results for reasonableness and accuracy.
Independently identify program, research and measurement-related problems and opportunities and their psychometric implications.
