PEF Chattanooga company history timeline

1988

The Mentoring for Academic Achievement and College/Career Success (MAACS) program is a college bound program pairing students from area universities with Bassick, Central and Fairchild Wheeler high schools, with students who have college potential that began in 1988.

1990

In Scholarship Reconsidered: Priorities of the (1990), he called for a reformation of academic scholarship by challenging the traditional roles of faculty as scholars.

1994

As of January 1, 1994 the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, Inc. has been operating as a separate non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization.

1999

Lagerman, E.C. (1999). Private Power for the Public Good: A History of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

2000

In 2000, the organization restructured, moving to a board of influential business leaders, and adopted the name Alliance for World Class Education.

2004

Founded in 2004, the Public Education Foundation of Charlottesville-Albemarle (formerly the Public Education Fund) is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in our public schools.

2005

Mangan, B.F. (2005). Fund for the improvement of postsecondary education: Background and funding.

In 2005, the Foundation launched its Quality Education for All initiative and identified Community Learning as one of the three primary strands of work.

2008

In May of 2008 the task force reconvened with members of the Alliance Board of Directors to present the case for a restructured local education fund.

2009

On January 1, 2009, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund began its role as Duval County's high-performing local education fund.

2017

Starting in 2017 BPEF has assumed the management of the Beard award process.
