Isola Bella was bequeathed to The American School by the late Ferrari Ward and his wife, Muriel Alvord Ward. Both were members of the ASD Board of Directors and Mrs. Ward was the first woman to serve on the board. Through this wonderful gift, the American School became the United States' first school for the deaf to offer a summer program for deaf and hard of hearing youngsters and is the only camp for deaf children in Southern New England. Isola Bella is a scenic island estate that has been turned into a recreational/residential summer camp for deaf children ranging in age from 8 years to 17 years old. A wide variety of activities are offered depending on camper's skill and interest level. Some of these activities include: archery, arts & crafts, camp studies, swimming, sailing and canoeing, water skiing, overnight camping, hiking, team and non-competitive games and a variety of special trips and projects. The philosophy of the program is “learning through experience.” SCOPE OF DUTIES Under the direction of the Camp Director shall have primary responsibility for assisting in running and managing the media and photo publications for the camp. PRIMARY DUTIES Under the direction of the Camp Director: Assist Camp Director in marketing upcoming summer sessions via social media and other platforms as needed Document all camp activities through photographs and videos; organize them for release Create and edit videos for various activities including welcoming families and campers to the island, for use on Family Day, as required for individual camper activities, and others as needed Create and manage posting photo and video footage for marketing purposes to Facebook and other social media platforms. Assist with editing and organizing digital camp newsletter Assist with editing and organizing camp yearbook. Responsible for PowerPoints for events such as awards, talent show, etc. Assist with campers as needed. Participate in camp training and abide by all camp policies and rules. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Applicants must have a High School diploma. Sign Language communication skills Experience with photography, marketing and video editing and social media platforms required. Minimum age recommended is 20. SALARY AND BENEFITS This role is seasonal and will be paid on a stipend basis. Compensation is dependent upon experience and training. This position will begin working upon hire. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's/Undergraduate degree or combination of education and 5+ years' work experience in administrative case management support or related field Child welfare and/or case management experience is strongly encouraged. Deep knowledge and understanding of the UC Portal Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
