Role Description:
The Summer Intern, Labor and Employee Relations will support the organization's Labor Relations and Employee Relations functions. This role will assist with labor and employment investigations, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) management, and other employee relations activities. The intern will also provide administrative and clerical support as needed while gaining hands-on exposure to labor and employment practices within a complex organizational environment.

Overview of where internship project fits within organization:
This is a paid internship. We are seeking a current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in communications, journalism, media studies or a closely related field to support our communications staff. Ideal candidates will have experience working on deadlines, for example at a student newspaper or magazine, campus TV or radio station, podcast team or prior media/PR internship.
This internship presents a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of media outreach in a fast-moving nonprofit setting and see how stories move from idea to headline in national and local news.
You will be doing true on-the-job training, working with science communicators to maintain the high profile of EWG and its issues in media outlets across the country. We work closely with our interns to customize the experience for their interests, and school and career goals, and we provide substantive feedback throughout the experience. The communications interns will assist in many of EWG's projects for 2026, including:
Food and agriculture: Promoting reports on EWG's ongoing food and agriculture policy work focused on food chemicals, pesticides, water pollution, conservation and farm subsidies.
Cosmetics and personal care products: Supporting efforts to remove hazardous chemicals from personal care products and cosmetics and promoting safer alternatives.
Toxic chemicals: Educating and informing the public to ensure that chemicals are safe for children before they enter the market and that those that are unsafe, like asbestos, get removed from the marketplace.
Expected project deliverables:

The American Enterprise Institute seeks an intern who will assist Nicholas Eberstadt, the Henry Wendt Chair in Political Economy. Dr. Eberstadt focuses on global demographic trends, human capital, and economic development, with a current emphasis on China, Russia, and developing nations. He also researches North Korea, poverty in the United States, foreign aid, global health, and mortality. The intern will do quantitative analysis, background research, fact-checking, and editing for articles and ongoing projects. Experience with Python, R, or Stata and familiarity with Microsoft Excel are required. Professional working capacity in Mandarin is preferred. Candidates who can participate in the program in person for 25-40 hours per week are encouraged to apply.
