We are looking for experienced 9-1-1 Dispatchers who can step in and quickly make a difference for our community. If you have experience in an emergency communications center handling 9-1-1 and police, fire, and/or EMS dispatch, we would love to talk to you.
Pay is commensurate with experience:
1+ Years = $31.02 an hour
2+ Years = $32.43 an hour
3+ Years = $33.88 an hour
4+ Years = $36.42 an hour
Delaware offers a great atmosphere and benefits. In addition to advanced step placement for pay, prior public service credit allows for a higher vacation earning placement. A shift differential of $1.00 per hour is paid for second and third shift hours.
While we would prefer candidates with certifications in CPR/AED, APCO PST1, and emergency medical dispatch, we are willing to train the right candidate with the minimum experience.

DELCOMM is the primary public safety answering point for Delaware County, answering all landline, voice-over-internet, and wireless 9-1-1 calls placed in the County. We dispatch for thirteen fire departments, Delaware County EMS, Delaware County EMA, Powell Police Department, and Delaware City Police Department.
The individual responds to requests for service via telephone and radio, employing telephone interviewing techniques and radio transmissions, rapidly and accurately processing information, prioritizing, making referrals, and initiating the proper response promptly, maintaining caller, responder, and public safety awareness. Individual reports directly to a Tour Commander.
Additional Information:
The nature of our work requires that our team members work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are determined biannually based on seniority.
Shifts
First Shift - 6:00am to 2:00pm
Second Shift - 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Third Shift - 10:00pm to 6:00am
Training Process
All team members complete a thorough training process to equip them with the skills and knowledge to perform the role effectively. The process consists of the following five phases.
Phase 1 - Classroom Training
Phase 2 - Call-taking
Phase 3 - Fire Dispatching
Phase 4 - Law Enforcement Dispatching
Phase 5 - Independent/Evaluation Only
Selection Process for a March 16th start date.
January 11th - Job post closes
January 14th - Deadline for candidates to view an informational video and fill out a survey
January 21st - Candidates who indicated they would like to move forward, must complete Criticall testing by this date
February 2nd to 9th - Phone interviews begin. Dates for in-person interviews will be revealed to selected candidates.

Individual must have a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with computers and basic computer applications, and keyboarding experience. Essential Functions
* Provides emergency first responder communications link between the public and public safety entities;
* Processes telephone calls, analyzes situations rapidly and accurately, determines effective courses of action, completes required paperwork, maintains detailed records of action, and performs clerical duties as needed;
* Provides standardized emergency telephone procedures to callers using an automated pre-arrival telephone instruction system;
* Processes radio communications for public safety responders, and maintains detailed records of such traffic;
* Assists public safety entities in disaster response and preparedness;
* Maintains thorough working knowledge of all operational and administrative rules, regulations, codes, laws, policies, and procedures that govern duties within the Center and employment within the County;
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with emergency response personnel;
* Aids management by recommending operational procedures to the supervisor;
* Identifies and reports equipment problems and outages to the supervisor;
* Supports the Database Technician in the maintenance of the electronic and manual databases;
* Drives to the Emergency Operations Center, back-up Communications Center, the Communications Center, or alternate location during an emergency recall as defined by Center policy;
* Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance;
* Attends various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops;
* Hold as confidential, all aspects of the job;

Monitor and track contractors scheduled to work throughout the property. Monitor Parking Systems and Traffic Counters throughout the property. Monitor and calmly react to emergencies and activities throughout the center.
Enforce property Code of Conduct with all patrons, customers, tenants, and employees consistently using the utmost professional courtesy. Properly enforce and follow all policies and procedures as designated in the Public Safety Officer Training Manual.
Prepare accurate and thorough security reports that document information about the incidents that occur on company property, to assist with the evaluation of safety and security of the property. Maintain a neat and orderly security filing system within the Communication Center.

**Summary**
Under general supervision, perform duties related to the operation of the protective services dispatch center involving incoming communication for emergency and non-emergency assistance; simultaneously operating a multi-channeled radio system, while maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems and other computer systems. Answers multi-line telephone equipment monitor several alarm systems, responsible for dispatch of medical staff on all codes, and provides excellent customer service to anyone in need of services; and performs other duties as required. The Telephone/Dispatch Operator is responsible for the operation of the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and transfer calls, overhead paging, and other duties as assigned according to the established Hospital and Department policies.
**Essential Functions**
+ Responsible for receiving coordinating and disseminating critical information from various sources including emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
+ Maintains radio contact with mobile/field units to monitor response progress and any needed support. Maintains communication with assigned units.
+ Determine nature and location of emergency prioritize, dispatch emergency personal and/or implement emergency procedures as needed and in accordance with established procedure
+ Operates a variety of communications equipment and monitors security systems including CCTV, Access Control, fire alarm, building automation and control and burglar and panic alarms; responds appropriately and in accordance with established procedure.
+ Acknowledges alarm received and dispatches appropriate personnel for issue at hand.
+ Be familiar with emergency procedures
