The main function of this position is to finish and package printed products. This requires the set-up and assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final product, either manually or by operating the following basic bindery/finishing equipment: shrink-wrapper, 30-inch cutter, padding racks, rubberstamp assembly, three-hole drill, spiral punch & binder, tab laminator & cutter, stitcher, box maker, table-top folder, table-top laminator, and high-speed punch.
Responsibilities:
A Printing Services Bindery Basic Equipment Operator typically โฆ
* Responsible for the accurate reading and comprehension of written job specifications. Job specifications provide the production details of each job/finished product.
* Responsible for the set-up and manual assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final kitted product.
* Responsible for the safe and efficient set-up and complete operation of all basic bindery/finishing equipment.
* Responsible for the correct packaging, correct labeling, and safe palletizing of final products.
* Responsible for the safe and efficient basic operator maintenance and cleanliness of all the equipment (and their respective work areas).
* Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of production time and materials, via shop-floor data collection terminals.

Required Qualifications
* High school diploma or its equivalent,

* Bindery trade certification(s)
* Knowledge of chain-of-custody (CoC) processes and procedures, specific to the correct procedures for segregation and identification of both raw materials and finished product
* Knowledge of set-up and operational knowledge of all equipment
* Knowledge of basic mailing regulations
* Publix and Printing Services job and code numbering systems
* Knowledge of shipping and distribution
* Shop Floor Data Collection, via Monarch Data Collection (thin net) Terminals
* Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Must-Have Qualifications
CDL Class B (or higher) with a clean driving record
Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operation (grapple truck, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators)
Railroad grapple truck experience
Ability to travel for 2-4 weeks at a time
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
Drug-free, able to pass DOT/FRA testing

Familiarity with OSHA/MSHA/FRA safety standards

Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of heavy construction equipment-including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes-to support site development, earthmoving, trenching, grading, and material handling. This position ensures all work is performed to project specifications, within safety guidelines, and in accordance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner for site preparation, excavation, grading, and material movement.
Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on equipment before and after operation.
Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and blueprints to execute work according to specifications.
Load and unload materials or equipment as needed.
Communicate effectively with site supervisors, spotters, and crew members to ensure coordinated operations.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations and participate in regular safety meetings.
Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed and equipment hours.
Assist with general labor or site cleanup when required.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy construction equipment.
Valid driver's license; CDL preferred (depending on project needs).
Proven knowledge of heavy machinery operation, job site safety, and preventive maintenance.
Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and elevation levels.
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
Preferred:
Certification or training from a recognized heavy equipment operator program.
Experience in [specific sector-e.g., road construction, utilities, site development, mining].
Familiarity with GPS-grade control systems and laser levels.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and operate machinery for extended periods.
Lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
Tolerance for noise, vibration, and dust typical of construction sites.
Work Schedule:
Full-time; hours may vary by project needs.
