The Position: PAR is seeking enthusiastic full-time MedicalAssistants for our Boulder's PAR location. Enjoy weekly pay with the opportunity to grow in a team orientated work environment.
Job Responsibilities for the MedicalAssistant
Prep charts; preload and scan patient charts into EMR
Obtain current vitals, patient history, current medications, and reason for visit from patients.
Accurately document patient activity
Promptly return patient calls for prescription refills and miscellaneous patient questions.
Complete provider orders such as DME oxygen set up, sleep studies, patient follow-ups and other requests.
Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and copay assistance.
Utilize inventory management system to dispense, transfer, and adjust inventory when needed.
Schedule new clinic patients, explaining policy and procedures to patients.
Send prescriptions as needed.
Manage medication and ancillary inventory.
Give injections and scheduling testing.
Minimum Qualifications for the MedicalAssistant
At least 1 or more years of MA experience, preferably with experience working in medical practice.
CNA or Certified MA training completion or equivalent education or experience (Preferred).
EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred).
Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred).
Certified MedicalAssistant or CNA (Preferred)

Physical / Mental Demands:
During clinic - standing and walking continuously. Outside of clinic - mostly sitting with some walking and standing.
Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard, using a mobile device such as an iPad or laptop, and other office machines.

Ability to carry up to 10 lbs. frequently during clinic.
Ability to view computer screens for long periods.
Occasional stress related to workload and physician / patient demands.

Job Description
The VHC Health Outpatient Clinic provides quality, comprehensive healthcare to low-income Arlington residents ages 18 and older who are uninsured or underinsured, including a highly diverse immigrant population representing more than 85 countries. Our mission is to reduce health disparities by ensuring equitable access to early detection, intervention, and ongoing care, while also addressing patients' socioeconomic needs through wraparound services. Each day brings a different mix of specialty clinics, giving MedicalAssistants the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of healthcare while supporting triage, point-of-care testing, procedures, inventory, and the overall environment of care. We serve adult and pregnant patients in a collaborative, resident-based teaching environment where teamwork, learning, and professional growth are strongly encouraged. Qualifications
Purpose & Scope:
The MedicalAssistant/ Receptionist ensures the clinical environment is cleaned, stocked, and ready for patient care. Prepares specimens for transport to labs, performs simple laboratory procedures, takes vital signs, prepares patients for procedures, and assists with patient flow. Provides general clinical support to staff, answers phones, makes appointments and adds information to the medical record.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
One year of experience in medical terminology is preferred.
One year of experience in data entry is required.
One year of experience in a healthcare/medical - primary care/office is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
BLS certification required.

Preps patients for any in office procedures and assists providers as necessary with exams, treatments and testing. As well as, performs necessary procedures as required (phlebotomy, bladder scans, catheter changes, etc.)
Collect and properly label all necessary lab specimens to include but not limited to blood, urine, and biopsy tissue
Perform CLIA waved laboratory testing, strictly adhering to the policies and guidelines established by UVA and the practice
Effectively uses necessary PPE as appropriate and abides by safe handling and disposal protocols of medical equipment and materials
Provide patient education and training as needed to include by not limited to self- catheterization, bladder irrigations, pre-op instructions and post-op care
Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting all patient information to include but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, provider orders, etc.
Cover phones for patient triage for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment, by answering, documenting, and routing when appropriate all incoming patient calls
Obtains authorizations and pre-certifications for clinical treatments, exams, diagnostic testing, and prescriptions as required per the patient's health plan
Requirements

Successful completion of secondary education in medicalassisting or other nursing related field of study
Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment

Job Responsibilities for the MedicalAssistant
* Prep charts; preload and scan patient charts into EMR
* Obtain current vitals, patient history, current medications, and reason for visit from patients.
* Accurately document patient activity

* Complete provider orders such as DME oxygen set up, sleep studies, patient follow-ups and other requests.
* Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and copay assistance.

* Send prescriptions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for the MedicalAssistant

* CNA or Certified MA training completion or equivalent education or experience (Preferred).
