General Description

Pasco County BOCC Utilities Water & Wastewater O & M is seeking to hire an applicant that is experienced in skilled and semiskilled work in the operation and maintenance of utility wastewater pump stations and all related equipment.

Essential Job Functions

Job assignments include, but may not be limited to the following: Checks and maintains wastewater pump stations; assists Labor Supervisors II and III; assists Pump Station Lead Mechanic/Mechanic and Vactor Operator as applicable; performs potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection activities. Operates various size hydraulic boom, and assist in operation of vactor and sludge trucks. Inspects mechanical equipment, troubleshoots, and corrects minor malfunctions. Ensures reliability of emergency power generation/pumping and transfer equipment tests. Maintains wastewater facilities, housekeeping, general mowing and grounds maintenance. Operates and interprets the SCADA system for day to day operations. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of wastewater collection, pump station maintenance; irrigation, or plumbing system installation, repair, or maintenance methods, procedures, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat, and walk. Must pass pulmonary function test and fit test within 60 days if required. Position may require to be clean shaven in order to meet safety requirements.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year of direct experience in water or wastewater field maintenance.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Must be able to obtain FWPCOA (C) Wastewater Collection Technician Certification within eighteen (18) months from date of employment. Must be able to obtain a Confined Space Certification within one (1) year of employment. Must be able to obtain a Valid Florida "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "N" Tanker endorsement within (180) Days from date of employment. Must be able to obtain a Florida CDL Class 'B" Permit within thirty (30) days of employment.

As a member of the Production Team, you will be assembling, disassembling, hydrostatic testing and performance testing of pumps. Receiving and stocking inventory, pulling orders for both pump and parts orders, part identification, assembling parts orders, prepping and painting orders and final packaging for shipment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that productivity goals are met. City of Kyle pump house technician job description

GENERAL STATEMENT:

Pump and Motor Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the daily and emergency preventative maintenance needs of the city including various pumps, motors, and controls, standby generators and related systems. Areas of work may be at any of the water and wastewater facilities throughout the city. Potential candidates must have a strong background in electrical systems troubleshooting, motor diagnostics, and general maintenance of such systems. Technician must be able to exercise sound judgment in times of crisis, and effectively communicate with other city staff and elected officials as needed. The City of Kyle Public Works Department operations are performed 24/7, 365 days a year. This position is required to be on an on-call rotation. Candidate must live within 45 minutes of normal travel time to Kyle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Troubleshoot and correct electrical, mechanical, and piping problems as experience and training allows and as directed by supervisors.
* Analyze, repair or replace mechanical equipment (pumps, motors, submersibles, relays, breakers etc.) as necessary to complete required repairs.
* Assist in the installation of new utility system improvements and other water and wastewater utility related projects.
* Responsible for keeping maintenance records up-to-date, including work orders and related forms.
* Will operate a company vehicle and be responsible for the appearance, maintenance, and organization of vehicle and tool inventory.
* Respond to emergency calls as directed.

* Five years' of experience in municipal water and wastewater maintenance preferred, but not required.
* Or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience which evidences a comprehensive knowledge of required job duties and expectations.
* Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License and be eligible for coverage under the City of Kyle vehicle insurance provider.
