This position reports to the Water Resources Compliance Division Supervisor This position has no supervisory responsibilities. A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS: * Provides technical assistance to citizens, contractors, and developers pertaining to compliance with the water distribution system and water conservation policies and procedures and/or violations. * Performs chlorine, bacteria tests and other water quality tests after pressure loss events. * Investigates sources of run-off water; sample run-off water in field, and tests for residual disinfection to assist in identifying sources of water. * Oversees contractors excavating and boring near critical Water Resources utilities to prevent damage and maintain system service and fire protection; Documents contact information, associated issues and responses. * Ensures contractors have valid NC 811 locate tickets, DOT encroachment and are observing town ordinances, specifications and policies regarding excavation and placement/installation of dry utilities. * Attend pre-construction meetings with contractors and developers to represent the interest of the water system. * Investigates water and sewer infrastructure damage by private contractors.
