PureWest Energy has a great working atmosphere, great benefits (insurance, PTO, 401K, etc) and it feels like management truly cares about the employees, their ideas to improve the company and their safety

I dont know of any cons about working at PureWest Energy other than the fact that its a job and I have to go to work. If they paid me to just stay at home and play with my kids, fishing, camping, etc then there would be no cons at all.

The generous matching 401k and PTO. They give PTO based on job experience and not based on time with the company. When I hired on, I had enough equivalent experience to my job/role that I immediately started with 4 weeks of PTO plus 40 hours of sick time (well it was prorated because i started late in the year). They also match up to 5% of employee 401K contributions plus give an additional 8% which is awesome!

They seem to be open and honest with the employees. I'm sure there are some secrets that they can't tell us but for the most part, they seem to be very open about everything that they can share. They visit on a regular basis, take part in our monthly safety meetings and make a point to be available to the common employee. They repeatedly tell us that employee safety is the top priority, followed by environmental concerns, followed by production/profits and their actions have backed up that over and over.
How would you improve PureWest Energy's culture?
I can't think of anything that isn't silly like bigger bonuses, pay raises, more time. Overall, I love the company and their commitment to the employees.

I came to PureWest as part of a company buyout and they interviewed all of the employees from the company they were buying that were interested in working for PureWest. It was a great interview with the person who would eventually become my new supervisor.

I think the compensation at PureWest Energy is above the industry average and maybe close to the top of the industry overall.

I love that management lets us do our jobs, are not micromanaged and are encouraged to speak up about issues relating to safety or system processes or just ways to improve the company in general. They may not take and implement all the ideas that are generated but they at least take the time to listen and evaluate the ideas

The Cons far outweigh the Pros. There are individual people held to a different standard, this dual treatment leads to resentment and bitterness within groups of employees. Standards such as good communication, timely delivery of work and basic work expectations. Some can have a complete lack in these areas and it is overlooked. I have witnessed leaders being harsh to employees who cannot defend themselves through fear of losing their jobs. The atmosphere at PureWest is terrible. But on the surface, people have to put on a smile.
