Working At Purina

Purina isn't just your trusted brand of pet food; it's so much more than that. The company has been in existence for over 100 years and through that time the company has developed nutrition centers to determine the foods' palatability and nutrition. The company's goal is to provide the best food for your pet so they can live better lives and so you can feel good about what you're giving them.

In 2001, Nestle acquired the company to form Nestle Purina PetCare Company. Ever since the company has been No. 1 in sales, volume and market share. With this in mind, you shouldn't be surprised by its award-winning culture. In order to have the best company, Purina knows its got to have the best culture in order to keep the best people around.

Diving Into the Values at Purina

The company is humbled and proud of the fact that it is a pet care industry leader. But everyone associated with the brand knows that in order to be a leader there must be a lot of responsibility. That's why they're passionate about pets and dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and cats through the company's nutritious food. This is demonstrated well in the company's values:

  • Pets are our passion.
  • Safety is our promise.
  • Innovation is our pledge.
  • The Culture at Purina

    Where Everyone Stands Tall

Purina strives to create a culture where everyone stands a little bit taller every day. The motto of "We Stand Taller" stems from making every day better. When Purina employees show up to work, they're ready to give it their all. They're going to own their work and make sure they do things the right way.

Because the team cares about its customers and the pets out there, the team strives to make their work matter. The Stand Taller motto comes from the company's founder, William H. Danforth. He believed that these 5 things were all very important to standing taller and improving lives:

  • Stand Tall with Integrity
  • Smile Tall with Passion
  • Think Tall with Expertise
  • Live Tall with Performance
  • Create Tall with Innovation and Agility
  • But all in all, the company knows the most important asset is the people who work there. That's why there's such a strong emphasis placed on diversity and inclusion. Everyone is welcome to work there. The team is comprised of unique personalities, skillsets and interests. The only thing that everyone has in common is their passion for pets.

    Giving Back at Purina

Doing Your Part in the Community

Purina has built a community focused on giving back. Every year, the company celebrates PetCare Pride Day. The day is filled with anything from preparing ready-to-eat meals for the homeless to building dog and cats beds or even making fleece blankets for area children's hospitals and local animal shelters. PetCare Pride Day is celebrated with community service and volunteering at the company's headquarters in St. Louis, as well as it's factory cities around the country.

Every year the company also donates over $1.1 million to the United Way of Greater St. Louis. These funds are sent around to nearly 200 agencies around the states of Missouri and Illinois. The company's other locations participate in similar campaigns as a way to improve the communities they serve. In addition, the company has funded and facilitated the Pet Advocates and Career Exploration (PACE) Program for more than 30 years. This program is designed to educate urban youth in St. Louis City about the workplace and show them the importance of community involvement.

  • The Benefits at Purina

    Tail-Wagging Perks

Purina believes that benefits are a huge part of any job. While some companies place an emphasis on their culture, others place an emphasis on their benefits package.
