Purvis Industries company history timeline

1945

Purvis Industries got its start in Waco, Texas in 1945.

1945 – Opened Purvis Bros.

1948

By 1948, the brothers changed the name of the company to Purvis Automotive Supply.

1950

So, in 1950 Purvis Bearing Service was born.

1954

In 1954, George founded Plastic Domino Manufacturing Company to sell domino sets he produced in the back of the Purvis Bearing Service store.

1956

By 1956, the bearing and domino businesses were doing so well that the brothers closed the automotive supply company to focus on the two booming businesses.

1960

As the business continued to grow, they moved to larger space on Franklin Avenue in 1960.

1972

1972 – Changed from partnership to Purvis Bearing Service, Inc.

1973

George's son Bob joined the company in 1973 after returning from his time in the US Navy.

1974

In 1974, the company opened its second location in Temple, Texas, expanding the footprint of Purvis Bearing Service for the first time.

1978

Cecil Purvis retired in 1978, and the business continued to flourish.

1979

1979 – Opened Corsicana, TX branch

1981

1981 – Opened a motor shop in Corsicana as part of the branch.

1982

1982 – Opened San Antonio, TX branch

1984

In 1984, the company made its first acquisition, purchasing Granbury Bearings in Dallas.

1987

1987 – Opened Austin, TX branch

1988

1988 – Bought Power Dynamics Dallas and Ft.

1991

1991 – Opened Pharr (McAllen), TX branch

1993

1993 – Opened El Paso, TX branch

1995

1995 – Opened Corpus Christi, TX

1996

1996 – Bought Bearing & Chain Supply in Houston, TX (2 locations)

1997

1997 – Bought combined operations of Southwest Bearing, Power Drives and Components, and East Texas Bearing to bring total number of branch locations to 20.

2000

2000 – Started CAPCORP with acquisition of Amerimex in Bryan, TX, and opened co-located branch.

2001

2001 – Opened Stephenville and Wichita Falls, TX branches

2002

2002 – Opened Mineral Wells, TX branch

2003

2003 – Opened Stuttgart, AR, Jonesboro, AR, & Beaumont, TX branches

2004

2004 – Opened Waxahachie, TX branch

2007

2007 – Opened Eagle Lake, TX branch

2008

2008 – Opened Carlsbad, NM and Las Cruces, NM

2009

2009 – Acquired Bearing Belt Chain, Las Vegas, NV, Kingman, AZ and St George, UT

2010

2010 – Opened Batesville, AR, Ft.

2011

2011 – Opened Phoenix, AZ, Oklahoma City, OK & Blytheville, AR

2012

2012 – Opened Albuquerque, NM

2013

2013 – Acquired Bates Sales Company and The Mine Supply Company / IMSCO with their 14 locations headquartered in St Louis, MO

2014

2014 – Opened Lafayette, LA, Denver, CO, & Grand Junction, CO

2015

2015 – Opened Amarillo, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Baton Rouge, LA (Purvis & CAPCORP)

2016

2016 - Opened Casper, WY & Billings, MT

2017

2017 - Acquired A&W Bearings in Dallas, TX, Garland, TX, and Nacogdoches, TX

2018

2018 - Opened Odessa, TX

2019

2019 - Acquired Ready Bearing in Lubbock, TX
