As a Mechanical Engineer at Q Microwave, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and integration of advanced RF components, including the packaging of RF boards and components into robust, manufacturable mechanical housings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical,

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical enclosures and hardware for RF filters and
integrated RF subassemblies.
Integrate CCA (Circuit Card Assemblies), Connectors, and RF board layouts
into precision-machined mechanical housings that meet harsh environments
RF/mechanical requirements (e.g. hermeticity, vibration, temperature…etc).
Collaborate with RF and electrical engineering teams to ensure alignment of
PCB and mechanical designs.
Utilize CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling, detailed
drawings, and tolerance analyses.
Perform thermal and structural analysis to ensure design robustness in
defense and aerospace environments.
Support transition to manufacturing, including documentation, tooling and
fixture development, and design-for-manufacturability efforts.
Assist with prototype builds, design reviews, product testing, and
root-cause analysis.
Work closely with local manufacturing and supply chain teams to support
material selection, process optimization, and production readiness.
Generate and maintain manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering change
documentation per Q Microwave and Amphenol standards.
The ability to work independently and proactively resolve work issues or
notify supervisors of the resources needed. The ability to coordinate with
other employees and work as part of a cross-functional team
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams-including RF,
electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering-to drive
integrated product development, resolve technical challenges, and support
production goals in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
What We're Looking For:
Minimum:

SUMMARY
Working under direct supervision of the Director of Engineering, the Sr. ProjectEngineer will investigate suitable technologies to develop, procure and implement capital projects that enhance or add capability and capacity in line with the strategic direction of the company. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as subject matter expert in various technologies used in industrial manufacturing environments.
Provide technical guidance to junior-level projectengineers as needed.
Continually evaluate new equipment and production techniques to ensure that King's Hawaiian is on the leading edge of bakery technologies.
Investigate opportunities for upgrading existing equipment to meet the newest quality and efficiency standards.
Lead and execute the study of process & equipment alternatives and Pilot Equipment Validation through Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine the effect of process parameters on product quality, throughput, and cost.
Refine and enforce King's Hawaiian Engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) for projects per capital plan. These projects can range from simple equipment replacement or upgrade to state-of-the-art line extensions or plant expansion.
Implement capital projects within schedule and budget guidelines while complying with personnel safety, food safety & sanitation, regulatory, energy, environmental, and other applicable standards.
Responsible for full execution of the project all the way to commissioning and returning to operations.
Accountable for the financial control (PO, invoicing up to close out) of the CAPEX project.
Provide spending & status updates to head of engineering and finance.
Supervise contractors, service technician, and outside engineering firms while ensuring food safety and a safe work environment for employees during all installation activities. Ensure strict adherence to King's Hawaiian's values & policies.
Perform other duties as required or assigned by the manager which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience required.
Demonstrated experience in dealing with ambiguity and can comfortably manage risks, changing priorities, and uncertainty.
Demonstrated experience to independently apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques, interpreting data through sound experimental design and statistical analysis.
Knowledge of USDA/FDA sanitary design principles, BRC/ AIB standards, OSHA, GMP's and related regulations desirable.
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work and influence across functions.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in a high-speed manufacturing industry is required (Food & Bev Manufacturing or CPG experience is preferred, baking industry experience is a bonus).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)
The ability to manage multiple projects (financial, schedule and implementation) simultaneously is required.
Proven technical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles (mechanical, process, continuous improvement, etc.) and ability to troubleshoot and commission.
Understanding of statistics, data analysis techniques, simulation, and other industrial engineering principles strongly preferred.
Proficient in the use of common software packages including MS Office365, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science preferred.
Minimum of 5 years in Project or Process Engineering experience.
Minimum of 5 years in industrial experience.
Minimum of 2-5 years Product Development experience.
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to develop and organize multiple projects.
Ability to work with a diverse, cross-functional team of professionals to deliver against key objectives and timelines.
Knowledge and understanding of nonwovens, absorbent hygiene, and diaper converting processes preferred

Essential Functions of the Job:
Lead Engineer for process engineering discipline on capital projects - project management, budget, schedule management, construction management, start-up, and project close-out
Develops scope, cost estimation, system design, procurement, installation, and check-out
Delivers projects that meet all regulatory and insurance requirements. Works with local regulatory agencies to deliver scope and permitting needs
Maintains SunOpta specifications and standards of construction. Partners with SunOpta internal engineering standards owners to clarify and refine specifications
Partners with key stakeholders, including operating unit, plant team, R&D, quality, manufacturing, operations leadership, and financial operations
Partners and collaborates in engineering design with key technical experts in SunOpta
Lead and direct the external engineering team within the processing engineering discipline

Manages authorizations for purchase orders and contracts for equipment and installations, including development of bid packages and bidding work

A Brief Overview
The ProjectEngineer is responsible for developing project proposals, generating machinery specifications, and managing contractors and internal personnel for successful project execution. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines while minimizing disruptions to production. The ProjectEngineer oversees project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to achieve company objectives effectively.
What you will do
Coordinates and supervises external contractors and internal personnel during project execution. Works with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment and processes.
Develops project proposals and machinery specifications for major equipment purchases. Manages all phases of capital projects, including scope definition, installation, commissioning, startup, and closeout. Develops bid package documents, reviews vendor quotes, and selects optimal equipment and resources.
Works with Operations, Scheduling, and Safety teams to ensure compliance with GMP, FDA codes, and other safety guidelines. Ensures minimal disruption to production processes during project implementation.
Manages project financials to ensure timely completion within budget. Provides input into the budget planning process and controls project-related expenses.
Prepares project documentation, including preliminary and as-built drawings, operating instructions, and maintenance requirements. Maintains facility layout using AutoCAD.
Leads and participates in production line and compounding area improvement initiatives. Develops operating procedures for new and existing equipment and processes
Ensures all projects adhere to company capital processes.
Communicates effectively with stakeholders across departments.
Assists in technical training and provides guidance on equipment operation.
Supports troubleshooting efforts for process and equipment issues.
Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
