    Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee The Opportunity: The purpose of this role is to provide strategic direction for underwriting environmental portfolios in the region, ensuring growth and profitability. This role involves managing a team of underwriters, writing guidelines, underwriting complex new businesses, and offering specialist advice. Your New Role: * Lead and influence the standardization of underwriting across environmental products by defining risk assessment parameters and setting quality service standards. * Develop and maintain relationships within and outside the organization to drive new business opportunities. * Support the development of the annual business plan for the portfolio and ensure its delivery. * Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and undertake regular reviews. * Foster a collaborative approach to growing the business by communicating with peers and identifying profit and loss trends. * Contribute to the development of the team's business plan to maximize productivity and performance. * Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities within the area of expertise. * Establish and strengthen relationships with stakeholders to maximize influence and achieve business objectives. * Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through appropriate learning and development activities. * Manage resources across the team to ensure business requirements are achieved. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Experience: * Environmental underwriting experience. * Participation in industry events for continuous education and technical proficiency. * Experience in regional underwriting or portfolio management. Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance. Key Accountabilities: + Operationalize the underwriting strategy of the Manufacturing, Wholesale & Retail industry practices to deliver growth and profitability results. + Develop and advance the technical standards, controls and practices for Manufacturing, Wholesale & Retail industry practices. + Provide technical underwriting guidance to field underwriting staff in through the handling of complex queries and referrals, + Participate in the strategic and operational planning process, lending the viewpoint of the industry segment. + Develops feedback mechanisms to ensure information is shared across the business. + Develops Solutions for issues and trends facing the industry segments and identifies opportunities for new products and services. + Agency Engagement with key relationships in conjunction with Head of Industry, Territory Leaders, and Underwriters. JOB DESCRIPTION: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: * Directly manages and directs a Major Loss Unit (MLU) of 6 director level claims professionals handling the highest severity, most complex claim matters and/or matters with large potential exposure to CNA's insureds and CNA. The Large Casualty Underwriter is responsible for: While this position is based out of the Philadelphia, PA Office, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role requires visibility in the marketplace, with the expectation of being in the office or market three days per week. * Underwriting, analyzing, and generating new and renewal business * Market facing and production within the Large Casualty, National Accounts division * Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules * Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships in the Mid-Atlantic Region * Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments Basic Qualifications: Executive Underwriter: * High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
