Chris Harrison is an assistant professor of Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon University, directing the Future Interfaces Group. He is focused on creating new sensing and interface technologies that aim to make interactions between humans and computers. He is also a cofounder and CTO of Qeexo, a startup developing rich-touch interactive technologies. Harrison spent two years working at Curtis Instruments as a student researcher. Then he joined IBM Research as an intern in 2005. He served as a research intern at AT&T Labs, developing a novel television application; at Microsoft Research, investigating input mechanisms for on-body and on-environment computing. Harrison was recently named as one of the top 30 scientists under 30 by Forbes, a top 35 innovator under 35 by MIT Technology Review, and one of six innovators to watch in 2013 by Smithsonian. He has been awarded fellowships by Google, Microsoft Research and Qualcomm. Harrison obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and then went on to Carnegie Mellon University to obtain his PhD in computer science.
