About Our Team
The Above Ground Testing (AGT) Accelerator Operations (1332) department is responsible for the operation of the Saturn, HERMES III, and SPHINX pulsed power accelerators. The primary objective of the department is to provide an applied research environment for the study of radiation effects on materials and electronics. The three accelerators generate electrical pulses of up to 20 million Volts and up to 12 million Amperes with nanosecond duration in order to create extremely intense pulsed radiation environments for the study of radiation effects sciences.
Department 1332 also conducts pulsed power research and development to: improve radiation source fidelity, increase the output and fluence, as well as to improve the overall reliability and reproducibility of the accelerators. These unique, world class facilities are an essential part of the NNSA s Stockpile Stewardship Program.

What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a skilled Electromechanical Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data acquisition and control systems. Your expertise will help ensure the reliability and efficiency of our operations, contributing to the overall success of our projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Provide designs, controls, and engineering support for data acquisition and control systems.
+ Conduct testing and oversight of existing data acquisition and control systems.
+ Maintain data acquisition and control systems software and hardware.
+ Implement software data analytics routines into programs for non-technical operators.
+ Assist with the implementation and commissioning of contractor-supplied software into current and future operations control and data acquisition systems.
+ Troubleshoot problems and implement workable solutions as required.
Due to the nature of the role, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$72,800 - $140,600
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
+ High school diploma or higher degree plus three (3) or more years of related experience
+ Experience in operating and set up of oscilloscopes and soldering and/or standard electrical engineering measurement and test equipment such as power meters/sensors, and signal/waveform generators
+ Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Current Certified LabView developer (LCD) accreditation from National Instruments
+ Electromagnetic Impulse troubleshooting skills, control circuit theory and design
+ Experience with network analyzers and spectrum analyzers
+ Demonstration of at least one LabView controls/data acquisition project (minimum of 100 vi s) from inception to completion to include final documentation.
+ Demonstrated experience creating, storing and retrieving software from repository systems (i.e. GitHub or Sub-Version).
+ Experimental RF systems experience (theory/troubleshooting/maintenance).
+ Strong technical writing skills and the ability to prepare effective documentation.
+ Ability to work on programs that require adherence to standards and requirements.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as personal initiative, responsiveness, attention to detail and organization skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
+ Willingness to tackle problems in a highly collaborative environment.
+ Ability to meet challenging design requirements and deliver results while meeting timelines within cost, schedule, and performance.

About Our Team:
The Above Ground Testing (AGT) Accelerator Operations (1332) department is responsible for the operation of the Saturn, HERMES III, and SPHINX pulsed power accelerators. The primary objective of the department is to provide an applied research environment for the study of radiation effects on materials and electronics. The three accelerators generate electrical pulses of up to 20 million Volts and up to 12 million Amperes with nanosecond duration in order to create extremely intense pulsed radiation environments for the study of radiation effects sciences.
Department 1332 also conducts pulsed power research and development to: improve radiation source fidelity, increase the output and fluence, as well as to improve the overall reliability and reproducibility of the accelerators. These unique, world class facilities are an essential part of the NNSA s Stockpile Stewardship Program.
Posting Duration:

SSI needs to add an EngineerTechnician II to support our current list of services provided to the U.S. Navy. These positions, located at the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in White Sands, New Mexico, will provide engineering, technical, logistics, and administrative support in the planning, maintenance, preparation, execution, launch operations and post-test phases to the W Department of the Navy Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD).
Primary Functions:
This is a junior level EngineeringTechnician position; incumbent with guidance from more senior engineeringtechnicians will:
Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes.
Assist with installing and maintaining electrical equipment and modify electrical prototypes, parts, and assemblies to correct problems.
Assist with building or modifying prototypes from rough sketches or plans
Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics.
Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers to resolve issues.
Assist with launcher systems in order to maintain program launch capabilities.
Assist with design work in areas of installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment such as complex launch systems to include stationary and mobile launchers.
Assist with installation, maintenance, system upgrades, troubleshooting, replacement, and repairs of all facilities, infrastructure, vehicles, new/existing equipment, and tools.

Education/Experience/Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent with an additional two years of related experience.
Experience in: Installing, operating, testing, and evaluating various weapon systems, equipment, and components

Ability to climb and work at elevated heights of up to eighty feet.
Ability to interpret basic electrical schematics and blueprints.
Ability to understand basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Driver's License
Able to deploy to both CONUS and OCONUS

This position is contingent upon contract award and is anticipated to start in May of 2023.
Must possess a valid driver's license. U.S. Citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required for hire, and to be maintained throughout employment. Your role:
Candidate will support propulsion testing at RTC's Test Area 5 (TA-5) to include Atmospheric, Static Firing, Dissection, and Liquid Propellant Support operations. Focus will be pre-test set up and post-test teardown of fixtures to include repair of same if required. In addition, pre-test operation checks of systems, and troubleshooting is often needed to ensure mission success. Work is out-doors and subject to inclement weather conditions. Ideal for the candidate that is team and mission oriented, enjoys the outdoors, working with hand tools, and operating heavy equipment.
What you'll do all day:
Technician will be required to support mechanical operations in and around Propulsion Test Stand/fixtures; Operate and maintain equipment for test support; LPART (Liquid-Propellant-Action-Response-Team) certified or ability to obtain once hired.
Comprehend various test setups and perform mechanical responsibilities while following applicable standard operating procedures.
Operate forklifts from Class VII and below, mobile, and overhead cranes, and other similar industrial equipment.

Test Range Operations.
What you'll do all day:
Support Test Engineers with various types of testing to include: Infrared Data Collection, UAS/CUAS, Target Vehicle Operations, Aircraft Survivability, Sensors, LASERS, Radar, Force Protection Systems, Integrated Base Defense. Assist with Network Installation and Management, Test Setup, Execution and Test Tear-down.
Help develop requirements, procedures, and unique test methods.
Support equipment maintenance and inventory (researching vendors to order new/replacement items, and shipping of items/equipment to test locations.
Ensure that all instrumentation/test equipment is properly maintained and setup.

Your role:
The ERC Machinist EngineeringTechnician will become a member of highly specialized team in the Propulsion Engineering Division, supporting the test and evaluation of solid rocket motors, warheads, arm-fire devices, fuzes, and related ordnance components of U.S. Army missile systems.
What you'll do all day:
Perform operations involving explosives and hazardous chemicals while using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
Perform machining tasks on a variety of different materials, including metal components, polymeric materials, solid propellants, and explosives.
Typical duties will include missile disassembly operations, and component dissection operations to remove bulk propellant and explosives samples for physical and chemical testing.
Perform precision weight and dimensional measurement of test specimens using dial calipers and analytical balances prior to physical testing of propellants.
Perform equipment installation, calibration, and establishment of operational procedures for electro-mechanical or servo-hydraulic test equipment.
Operate chemical propulsion industry standard equipment such as conditioning chambers, ovens, vacuum pumps, process control instrumentation, viscometers, computer data acquisition equipment, and electro-mechanical/servo-hydraulic test systems.
Assemble a variety of explosive items, such as propellant test articles, igniters, rocket motors, and warheads for test and evaluation.
Perform handling, transportation, packaging, and proper storage of class 1.1/1.3 explosive materials and hazardous chemicals.
Properly dispose of hazardous waste generated during machining or testing.
Ensure environmental, health, and safety focus is maintained in Ammunition and Explosives operations.

Ability to program and/or operate Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine tool stations.
Must be able to read drawings/blueprints, with knowledge of dimensioning/tolerancing.
Operational skills with Industrial Material Handling Equipment (MHE), to include forklifts, 2.5 ton trucks, commercial vehicles, hydraulic lifting equipment.
Possess basic Personal Computer (PC) skills. Capable of understanding Graphical User Interface (GUI) driven test machines, composing test reports, and plotting test results in commercial software packages.
Must be able to obtain appropriate certifications for Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) Handler/Transporter, respirator certification, forklift certification, and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement.
Suitable to meet Command Oriented Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) Security Screening and Evaluation requirements, per Army Regulation 190-11; Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
With proper training, oversight, and safety measures, must be able to work with and around hazardous propellant/explosive/energetic materials.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time if required.
