What you'll do:
Program Establishment & Leadership
Design, implement, and maintain a company-wide Food Safety & Quality Management System for beverage QSR operations.
Build robust HACCP/HARPC plans, allergen management, sanitation protocols, and preventive controls tailored to beverage production and service.
Create documentation, training materials, and SOPs that can scale with growth.
Regulatory & Ingredient Compliance
Ensure all operations and products meet FDA, local health department codes, and applicable GFSI-benchmarked standards (e.g., SQF, BRC).
Verify regulatory compliance of all ingredients, including allowable additives, nutritional labeling, and country-specific regulations for current and future markets.
Quality Standards & Operations
Define quality specifications for beverages, syrups, toppings, ice, and packaging materials (working in conjunction with PD/Equipment technical team)
Establish sanitation and maintenance standards for beverage dispensing equipment, brewing systems, and ice machines.
Implement cold chain monitoring from supplier to commissary to store to ensure product freshness and safety.
Supplier & Co-Manufacturer Management
Approve, audit, and monitor suppliers and co-manufacturers with a focus on beverage-specific raw materials.
Maintain supplier scorecards and drive corrective actions when needed.
Sensory & Product Consistency
Partner with Product Development to create a structured sensory evaluation program for product launches, flavor consistency checks, and ongoing quality monitoring.
Ensure uniform product quality across all stores through periodic sensory and operational audits.
Training & Food Safety Culture
Develop and deliver training programs for commissary staff, store managers, and operations teams.
Foster a strong food safety mindset at all levels, from frontline to leadership.
Incident Management
Lead root cause investigations for customer complaints, product deviations, or food safety issues.
Manage product recall and withdrawal processes when necessary.
Data & Continuous Improvement
Track KPIs, audit results, and consumer feedback to identify trends and opportunities.
Recommend and implement improvements for efficiency, shelf life, and product consistency.
Growth & Strategic Planning
Build the QA/Food Safety function with a vision for future expansion into a Director-level leadership role.
Provide guidance and mentorship to develop the QA team as the business scales.
Experience you need to be successful:
Bachelor's in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Nutritional Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
10+ years in Quality Control and Food Safety, ideally in beverages and foods (QSR, RTD, CPG).

Main purpose of the Quality Assurance Training Lead role:
The Quality Assurance Training Lead is responsible for developing, documenting, and communicating the processes that support and enhance Quality Assurance operations. Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality engineering, and the engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
As a Software Development in Test Engineer within DEEP&T, you will touch the lives of Disney fans around the world, working on innovative digital products and platforms from Disney, ESPN, National Geographic, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars and more.
You will be a contributor on the Quality Engineering team, whose primary goal is continually improving the quality of the products that Disney is known for while decreasing time-to-market and enabling innovation. This role makes you a stakeholder in every digital property developed and released by the DEEP&T group, as well as the platforms and enterprise applications that power them.
You will be an integral part of a small group of talented and driven software engineers dedicated to building infrastructure, tools, reports, and services that enable product engineering teams to deliver all Disney digital applications with the quality and reliability expected by our guests.
When these systems work as intended, they drive better customer experiences, increase trust in our platform, and reduce costs associated with bugs in production. As an SDET, you will play a crucial role in strengthening test automation strategies, leading quality initiatives, and championing a culture of engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:
* Work closely with Software Engineers to understand the complex ecosystem in place at DEEP&T
* Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, API and Integration levels of testing using java, python or other OO language
* Participate in design discussions for our platform to help evolve the platform in a way that enables richer testing scenarios that simplify defect detection and prevention
* Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams.
* Contribute to end-to-end acceptance tests
* Where necessary, develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues that cannot be detected through automated means
* Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated whenever possible
* Developing and supporting high quality code to build and enhance automation, quality infrastructure, and innovative proof-of-concepts
* Investigating and troubleshooting issues across our services and driving them to resolution
* Contributing to the development and maintenance of infrastructure, frameworks, and pipelines that verify backend services and APIs across multiple products
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field or equivalent years of professional experience.
* 3 years of relevant experience in a software development (SDET, SE, SRE) occupation, including automated and/or unit testing of front end and/or backend services
* Experienced in object-oriented design and expertise with one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, Node/JavaScript
* Experience working with high-performing teams using Agile and Lean methodologies
* Excellent collaboration skills and ability to use standard software development lifecycle (SDLC) tools such as Jira and Confluence, and version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience shipping production Python, Flask, Django, React or Node.js applications.
* Experience with developing and deploying applications in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and optimizing cost efficiency.
* Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, and Kinesis
* Experience writing Gherkin Syntax to facilitate the development of automated test scenarios.
* Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration/delivery systems.
* Experience with testcase and/or issue management (e.g. JIRA, Xray), code management (e.g. git, SonarQube) and data visualization (e.g. Grafana, Data Dog) tools.
The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Glendale/L.A., California is $95,300.00 - $127,800.00; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $104,400.00 - $140,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
