Reporting to the QA manager, the Quality Assurance Automation Developer will be involved in all software quality assurance activities for their assigned projects. This professional is expected to drive product quality improvements, participate in discussions regarding the requirements and design of new features, as well as improvement of existing functionality. The Quality Assurance Automation Developer will be responsible for functional test design, planning, creation and execution of automated and manual test cases.
Key Responsibilities
Review story requirements and participate in requirement discussions. Set up test data and environments to achieve solid and reliable test coverage. Modify and enhance existing QA tools written in Java/JavaScript to perform successful testing. Design, develop and maintain a Cypress based test framework for GUI. Work closely with Product and Development teams to resolve system and product issues. Work directly with the NLP team providing testing support on algorithms and discuss results to determine and prioritize further enhancements. Follow Agile principles and work independently without direct input or oversight. Work closely with developers, IT Ops engineers in the CI/CD pipeline.

Professional Experience Required
Bachelors' degree in a computer science or equivalent practical experience. Hands on experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL and Shell. Ability to program in Java and Java Script (write, read, understand, debug, fix and improve code) Experience in testing Angular JS applications. Preferably using Cypress. Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud computing Strong analytical skills Self-manager with the ability to perform well under little supervision Quick learner of new concepts and technologies Critical thinking skills, with the ability to organize and articulate effective problem solving solutions. A Brief Overview


The Test Automation Analyst is responsible for supporting and implementing the design, automation, and maintenance of test scripts to ensure automation supports testing initiatives and continuous integration. The Analyst will support existing automation frameworks and related best practices. The Analyst will document and perform manual testing, where applicable. While working closely within, and across teams, the Analyst will ensure quality standards are met, and performance improvements are made. To ensure consistency across development, test, and production environments, the Analyst will collaborate on the documentation of test cases, and test processes and procedures. The Analyst will mentor and train new and existing staff, and provide group training on specific subject areas, as needed. #BI-REMOTE


What you will do



IT complex GUI and/or API software efforts from analysis through implementation. Design, automate, and maintain test scripts related to various sized efforts. Perform maintenance to, and debug, existing scripts. Drive Risk-Based Testing conversations between business sponsors and developers. Assume a lead role in testing, analysis, and communication of results. Help reconcile business and technical requirements through use of current methods and practices. Collaborate with Delivery Teams and Testing Centers of Excellence to create and evolve policies and best practices. Ensure best practices and standards are followed; maintain and oversee proper documentation. Make suggestions for improving the development and testing process. Mentor and train new and existing staff. Work under general supervision; communicate with management on the status of tasks and projects and initiate requests to escalate problems, when needed. Minimum Requirements

What you'll do:

As a QA Test Automator at FirstEnergy you will join a digital transformation team working in an Agile environment and use Java / Selenium to develop test scripts for internal and external web solutions. You will spend your day expanding the automated testing foundation for our applications by creating test scripts.

* You will translate the functional uses cases from Business Analysts (BA) into the automation test cases. This role may also create the Gherkin scenarios that are the first step in translating a manual test into the automated test script.
* You will translate the functional uses of the application as described in the test cases from the Gherkin scenarios into the Java Cucumber scripts.
* You will create the automated test plans needed to test the application through the test automation framework.
* You will work closely with the BA's and the development team to ensure that all page objects are accounted for, and the functionality is in alignment with the user's needs.
* You will mentor other test automation analysts & developer resources.
* You will actively participate in a collaborative work environment.

What You Will Need to be Qualified:

* You have a bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science or another related field with 3 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, you have 5 years of related experience.
* Related experience includes but is not limited to automating web testing using Java, Selenium, TestNG or similar testing frameworks

* Has worked and been an active participant on a Scrum team or similar Agile methodology
