Job Overview:
The Quality Technician performs a variety of tests to ensure units function according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure, using test instruments: Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used. Quality assurance technician job in Milwaukee, WI
Under the direction of the Quality Lab Supervisor, with guidance from the Quality Lab Tech Lead, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician is responsible for the completion of testing and inspection, dimensional analysis and support of other departments within HellermannTyton. This position requires the Technician be able to complete product/process inspections in a product environment as well as a lab environment while managing files and software. Overtime will be required including some weekend hours. This position will also maintain HellermannTyton's TS16949/ISO14001/EMS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Essential Functions:
Understand Customer Expectations as they relate to Product Quality
Thrive in and help support a Team Atmosphere
Help support the HellermannTyton Team by mentoring Operators regarding Quality of Product
Perform 1st Piece Inspection of manufactured product
Perform in-process inspection of manufactured product
Perform Product specific tests including but not limited to tensile
Perform moisture analysis on manufactured product as well as incoming
Verify Material Certification and Approve raw material
Enter and edit SPC data in the SPC computer file
File all QA records and samples (obsolete and current).
Use incoming color chip samples to verify colorant in receiving
Handle non-conforming material isolation and documentation
Perform a dimensional layout referencing the HellermannTyton drawing
Use SPC software
Record all inspection and test data.
Weigh parts.
Use control plans.
PPAP and PPC testing.
Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and Environmental certification by supporting: Corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Other Functions
Become a "Go To" person for production personnel regarding Quality of Product
Determine "Clean Point" when a non conformance is found
Support LEAN Work Environment

Key Competencies

Your Role on Our Team
The Quality Technician II will be responsible for ensuring the quality of all products produced meet agreed upon standards and expectations.
The Quality Technician II will demonstrate the ability to put people and process first at all times to ensure Milwaukee Tool's unwavering devotion to a robust quality culture. This position is the standard bearer for who we are and the obsession we have with being the market leader. A Quality Technician II is charged with overseeing the quality, safety, productivity, and training linked within their assigned team. The ability to effectively communicate to the team is crucial to the continued success and development of the personnel and equipment managed. Through resourcing of timely product inspections, and directing of plant quality technicians, the Quality Technician II position is tasked with the short- and long-term success of the Manufacturing Quality Team.
Shift: 3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday 11:00pm-7:00am
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Key contributor of the manufacturing quality assurance organization by performing daily audits of the manufacturing process to ensure all products and processes are abiding by the specifications and standards set by the leadership teams
User of test lab equipment such as tensile/torsion testers, hardness testers, metallurgical equipment (cut/mount/polish, optical and stereo microscopes), and other various test equipment
Operate CMM and VMM measuring machines and user of handheld devices such as calipers, micrometers, height/snap/pin gauges and other various devices to support metrology needs
Initiate Quality System documentation, such as Inspections, Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR's), quality alerts
Contribute to the creation of work instructions
Complete dimensional inspections of incoming raw material
Ability to navigate document repository web page to locate inspection reports, blueprints and other quality documents
Participate in gage R&R studies as needed
Mentor Quality Technician I personnel and provide guidance to manufacturing operators
Effectively communicate across shifts and weekend work within internal teams and cross-functional teams
Support Operator instruction/ training on new procedures or techniques
Perform basic math; fraction to decimal conversion, arithmetic and units of measure conversion, and basic statistics
Consciously abide by all safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment
Other duties as assigned
The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
High School or GED diploma
2+ years of previous quality experience or 5+ years of manufacturing experience
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to read blueprints
Problem solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage interruptions
