Quality Assurance Microbiology Technician Shift: Front Half Days Pay Grade: H006P Position Summary: Responsible for applying microbiological methods to ensure the safety of incubation samples prior to releasing products. Responsible for reporting results and communicating issues related to incubation testing to management. Responsible for applying microbiological methods to assist in projects and investigations as needed. Responsible for abiding by and ensuring all food safety and quality protocols are followed. Essential Functions Apply basic microbiological methods including streak plating, gram staining, pour plating, spread plating, petrifilm plating, serial dilutions, etc. Operate the D-count and/or Bac-T Alert rapid testing systems for the purpose of verifying sterility in incubation samples. Assure that product conforms to post-process pH and micro testing standards. Play a key role in investigating product safety issues from the microbiological perspective. Batch microbiology media and safely operate an autoclave. Operate a pH meter. This includes calibration and maintenance. Monitor the temperature of the incubation rooms. Calibrate and verify lab equipment as required. Maintain accurate records of all test results in the appropriate logs. Responsible for updating daily incubation reports and QPA database. Responsibilities + Inspect fabricated parts by visually and physically examining metal components at various stages of production, such as raw materials, cut pieces, welded joints, and finished products, to check for dimensional accuracy, surface defects, and compliance with design specifications. + Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met. + Read blueprints and specifications to thoroughly understand engineering drawings and technical specifications and verify that each fabricated part adheres to the intended design. + Identify potential quality issues such as misalignment, warping, scratches, dents, improper welding, and other imperfections during inspection. + Document inspection findings on quality control forms, noting any non-conforming parts and documenting corrective actions taken. + Communicate with production teams by reporting identified issues to production personnel and providing feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent future quality problems. + Implement corrective actions by working with operators to address quality issues by adjusting machining parameters, re-working defective parts, or implementing process improvements. + Maintain quality standards by ensuring adherence to established quality control procedures and industry standards, including safety regulations. Essential Skills + Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, and bending. + Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. + Attention to detail with the ability to check large quantities of documents to ensure they meet code specifications. + Expertise in using both standard and precision measuring tools, such as tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, and gauges. + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. + Familiarity with quality control methodologies and documentation practices. + Proficiency in working with computers, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook. + Availability to work overtime as required, including some weekend work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Interest in becoming a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). + Ability to train and mentor others. Work Environment The role involves splitting time between the office and the shop floor, looking at parts, reviewing documentation specific to each build, and interacting with machine operators, welders, and inspectors. The Quality Control Technician 1 prepares parts and materials for hardness testing and applies appropriate test methods relative to the size and configuration of parts and material. The Quality Control & Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting misting systems, water filtration units, and related components to ensure all products meet company quality and performance standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product reliability, safety, and compliance through precise assembly, thorough inspection, and consistent documentation. This person will be working out of our office in Hillsboro, OR. Responsibilities Assemble misting systems, water filtration units, and related components according to work orders, blueprints, and schematics. Cut, fit, and connect tubing, fittings, pumps, filters, and nozzles using hand and power tools. Prepare and install electrical connections, motors, and control components as required. Verify proper assembly of water flow components to ensure leak-free and efficient performance. Perform pressure testing and system checks to confirm product functionality and compliance with specifications. Maintain accurate production and test records in accordance with company standards. Operate equipment such as tube cutters, crimpers, threaders, drills, and test benches safely and efficiently. Assist in machine setup, part alignment, and changeovers for different product runs. Monitor production line operations to ensure consistent output and quality. Identify and troubleshoot assembly or component issues during production. Inspect incoming materials (filters, fittings, pumps, housings) for defects or inconsistencies. Conduct in-process and final quality checks, including flow rate, pressure, and leak tests. Record and report defective materials or assembly issues to the supervisor or quality team. Follow company ISO and quality assurance standards and procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following 5S principles. Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment; report any malfunctions.
