Role description As R&D Engineering Technician at Sorion, you will build, operate, and maintain the hands-on infrastructure that enables rapid mechanochemistry R&D. You'll assemble custom milling systems, wire temperature-control rigs, execute high-quality experiments, and support the early build-out of our pilot plant. Your work will turn experimental ideas into reliable hardware and data-producing systems, directly increasing Sorion's scientific velocity and helping us scale from benchtop prototypes to production-ready unit operations. As a team member of the Quality Control Group, the incumbent will be responsible for recording the results of inspection activities, as well as the provision of stakeholder reports periodically. **Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:** - Comply with TurboFab Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines. - Responsible for inspecting and receiving material in conformance with Solar's requirements. - Responsible for reviewing and ensuring all production related documentation such as travelers, ITP's and/or drawings are properly marked and signed in conformance with Solar practices and project requirements. - Performs visual inspections of piping and structural components. - Liaise between multiple production groups to schedule and coordinate NDE inspections performed by contractors, as well as third party required inspections. - Assist in the development of welding procedures and welder qualification activities. - Responsible for the preparation of weld maps for non-destructive testing performed on the piping spools. - If appropriate, train other less experienced Quality Control technicians as needed. - If appropriate, ensure complete and accurate documentation of all inspection requirements. **Required:** - Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). - Working knowledge of industrial coatings applications, destructive and nondestructive testing. - Experience and familiarity in NDE methods: Magnetic Particle (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Penetrant Testing (PT). - High school Diploma or equivalent. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Working knowledge of application of industrial coatings, for application on structural steel, piping, and equipment for offshore/onshore applications. - Working knowledge of welding and materials inspection in conformance with AWS D1.1, B31.8, B31.3, ASME IX and API 1104. - Must be able to comprehend both verbal and written technical information. - Must have basic computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Excel, Power Point, Word). - Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Ability to work as part of a diverse team. **Summary Pay Range:** $28.57 - $42.85 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
