Stockroom Technician. Department: Chemistry. Classification: Non-Exempt. FTE: 0.50. Work Schedule: 20 hours per week; hours to be worked between Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Hourly Rate: $19 - $21. Position Overview: Assists the Stockroom Manager with his or her tasks relating to support for the Chemistry teaching and research laboratories, which includes: laboratory preparation, supervising student stockroom workers, maintaining a stockroom primarily serving chemistry labs, inventory management, and chemical handling. Essential Job Duties: * Laboratory Preparation - 50% of time. * Support of the chemistry teaching laboratories, ensuring that adequate supplies of reagents and equipment for all of the teaching laboratories are available. * Assist in the preparation of solutions and glassware bins for chemistry teaching labs. * Assist in the set-up of teaching laboratories by transporting supplies, reagents, and equipment between the stockroom and lab spaces. * Work with the stockroom manager to maintain all chemistry teaching laboratories to ensure that they are in an orderly and safe condition, including bench and hood spaces. * Assist in the collection of chemistry laboratory wastes, and arrange for temporary storage of wastes. * Verify that all laboratory instruments for which the Chemistry Stockroom Manager has primary responsibility are in proper working condition and communicate with the Stockroom Manager when repairs are required. * Stockroom - 25% of time. * Organize and maintain the Regents Hall of Natural Sciences stockrooms (including solvent storage room) and basement storage area as directed by the Chemistry Stockroom Manager. * Maintain a proper stock of personal protective equipment, including gloves, goggles, and lab coats, and communicate with the stockroom manager if items need to be ordered. * Contribute to the maintenance of a computerized inventory of all chemicals, apparatus, and equipment in Regents Hall stockrooms, and related storage and laboratory spaces. * Assist the stockroom manager in performing an annual inventory of all stockroom and storage spaces. * Additional Tasks - 15% of time. * Assist in the annual bid by checking amounts of chemicals, supplies, and equipment on hand and relaying the information to the Chemistry Stockroom Manager. * Transport incoming packages and mail relating the stockroom when necessary. * Perform other special job-related tasks for faculty in Chemistry Department (and others as needed), such as assisting in the making solutions for classroom demonstrations, as time permits. * Supervision - 10% of time. * Assist in the training and directing of student stockroom workers in daily tasks including the following: preparing solutions, chemicals, and glassware bins, washing glassware, maintaining cleanliness in the stockroom, assisting laboratory students at the window, and other duties assigned by the Stockroom Manager. * Ensure that students are following all safety rules including dress code and the use of personal protective equipment. * Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision Received and Exercised: * Reports to the Chemistry Stockroom Manager. * This position does not supervise staff or student workers. Has interactions with students. Required Qualifications: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent; basic background in chemistry and interest in science; maintain a valid driver's license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record. * Experience: 1+ years of experience in a comparable facility, field, or industry. Preferred Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field. * Experience: Training in safe handling of chemicals, preparation of solutions, familiarity with Safety Data sheets and proper waste disposal methods. The R&D Technician will support the formulation and development of cosmetic and OTC personal care products, with a focus on skincare and suncare. This role involves preparing and modifying formulations under the guidance of R&D Chemists, performing lab tests, documenting processes, and supporting scale-up activities. The Quality Control Inspection team plays a key role supporting our manufacturing operations at the Maple Grove site. This role is involved in a wide range of inspection tasks, where the primary goal is to assure that the products we produce are conforming to specifications and properly evaluated for compliance to visual, dimensional, functional, and various other specified requirements. The QC Inspector will be responsible for performing inspections in a highly regulated medical device development and manufacturing environment across all areas of standard work for the team (receiving inspection, first article inspections, label verifications, valve inspections, tissue inspections, pre-sterile product inspections, and sterile product inspections). This is a high visibility role with daily interactions across a wide range of peer groups in the Maple Grove site. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Perform all duties listed below in strict compliance with the Anteris Quality Management System including Good Documentation Practices. Responsible for performing receiving inspection on material / products supplied to Anteris to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications. Perform microscope and other aided visual inspections on biological tissue based medical device products to ensure conformance to processing requirements and specifications. Perform machine / software-controlled inspections on products to ensure conformance to processing requirements and specifications. Perform inspections, as required by procedure, in support of first article inspections and label verifications. Perform physical and visual inspections on material, products, and/or packaging being processed for sterilization. Make an informed decision, based on training to tasks assigned, on the acceptance of materials, products, and inspected features, requirements, and specifications in all standard work tasks. Complete and maintain accurate records of inspection activities, including measurements, observations, results, conclusions, nonconformance issues, and full completion of quality record fields in support of standard work tasks. Collaborate with peers in Operations to effectively stay on plan, be mutually organized to goals, and communicate effectively through escalation channels as required. Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Required Skills and Knowledge: High School diploma or equivalent. 5+ years overall experience in Medical Device (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) manufacturing environment. 5+ years equivalent work experience directly applicable to Primary Duties and Responsibilities listed above. Strong attention to detail and experience in reading, interpreting, and comprehending product requirement documents and specifications. Experience in learning and cross-training on widening set of responsibilities in a team-based environment. Experience working directly with computers to input data, perform electronic based work tasks, complete training, and manage email communications. Effective verbal and written communication Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Skills and Knowledge: Vocational or technical training in assembly, sewing, or inspection of biological tissue based medical devices. Vocational or technical training in the use of microscopes, including the use of specialized reticles and/or tappi charts. Vocational or technical training in the use of MicroVu optical inspection systems. Vocational or technical training in Lean or 5S principles. Vocational or technical training in GD&T principles and specification designs. PAY: $16.37 JOB SUMMARY: In the summer, the St. Thomas Chemistry Department becomes a vibrant research community. 40-50 students, ranging in experience from new freshmen to seniors, work full time with faculty. We will have weekly meetings of the whole group to share our findings and discuss research issues. We also meet with students at other local colleges. There are also have several social functions we do as a group throughout the summer. All students, regardless of experience, are encouraged to apply.
