Job Skills / Requirements
We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring mechanical products and parts are at Whip Mix standards to ensure customers receive quality products with on-time delivery.
What you'll be doing:
Performs inspection on incoming received/internal machined parts and tooling to determine conformance to specifications using all types of standard mechanical and computer setups. Records inspection results in a quality database and reports discrepancies per the Quality Inspection process. Ensures product quality and follows Quality Procedures to take appropriate action when non-conformances are identified.
Participates and provides support to Material Review Board activities. Partners and collaborates with other areas in the investigation of non-conforming parts to determine root causes, corrective actions, and limited dispositions following standard quality procedures.
Performs QC testing of chemical products and materials.
Performs complex first part/first article inspections using a variety of precision mechanical setups and fixtures to determine conformance to specifications and suitability for use.
Performs calibration of equipment, instruments, etc. Acts as a gatekeeper of calibration database to monitor, coordinate, update records to ensure timely completion of the calibration activities.
Acts as a gatekeeper of Preventive Maintenance (PM) database to monitor, coordinate, and update records to ensure timely completion of PM activities.
Works within the Quality Module of the ERP system to satisfy daily operations.
What you'll bring to the table:
High School Diploma or GED required.
3+ years of related experience
Experience in a regulatory manufacturing environment preferred, ISO 13485 standards is a plus.
ASQ (American Society for Quality, Certified Quality Technician or Calibration technician preferred.
Working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) and statistics.
Computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office products and ERP system required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Statistical Process Control and Quality tools (DMAIC, Six Sigma, PDCA, Cpk., etc.).
Understands how to apply criteria in order to generate reports.
Able to determine part acceptability by performing mechanical and visual inspections with sound judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with others, providing training when needed.
Able to read and understand material handling reports, manufacturing orders, and complex work instructions.
Knowledge of dimensional measurement equipment commonly utilized in a machine shop and/or quality inspection and/or calibration department in a manufacturing environment, including fixed and variable gages, indicators, surface plate and associated measuring and fixture equipment, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines.
Knowledge of electronic measurements for calibrating electronic gages,

What the Role Is
The Springs Distillery Quality Control Internship offers immersive experience in analytical testing, laboratory operations, and distillery QC/QA practices. This role is ideal for students interested in chemistry, fermentation science, distillation science, or quality systems.
You will contribute to quality improvement and plant optimization projects, learn to run routine lab analyses, assist with new test development, troubleshoot testing inconsistencies, and support data collection that improves distillery performance. * Familiarity with a variety of manufacturers electrical components

* Proficient at interpreting electrical schematics / layout drawings

MGP Ingredients is a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. Its Distilling Solutions segment provides bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, gins and vodkas to craft and multinational brands. MGP's own Branded Spirits business is growing following the 2021 acquisition of Luxco, a top spirits producer, bottler, supplier, and importer. Ingredient Solutions delivers nutritional, functional wheat- and pea-based ingredients aligned with consumer trends. THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the guidance of the Process Engineer and Distillery Operations Manager, the Quality Control Technicians work closely with all distillery staff. Working with Distillers and barrel fillers to ensure distillation and barrel filling is conducted in a quality manner while ensuring government regulations and internal specifications are met.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Responsible for all laboratory analyses of all samples submitted to QC Laboratory to ensure internal specifications and external government regulations are met.
Perform beverage laboratory testing, including distillation, titration, specific gravity and proof checks, brix determination, pH testing, and organoleptic analysis.
Effectively operate HPLC and GC instrumentation for analyzing raw distillate.
Operate and calibrate (pH meter) lab instrumentation.
Responsible for testing Reverse Osmosis system daily to ensure internal specifications.
Perform accurate and timely data entry and record-keeping in Quality Control systems.
Communicate effectively with other Lux Row departments.
Responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues and ensuring all equipment is always running properly.
Produce Logs and Reports based on findings from all testing on periodic basis.
All other duties assigned by the Quality Control Manager or Distillery Operations Manager
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Be a student currently enrolled in a Chemistry, Biology, or related major at a college/university.
Must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office including Excel and Word.
Candidate must be self-motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Laboratory experience is preferred.

High School Diploma; Education equivalent to a two-year degree from a regionally accredited institution in Public Administration, Social Science or a closely related field; a minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience for a public agency, or related work in the social service or community service field preferred. Alternatively, a two-year degree with four years of experience will satisfy the qualifications.
Must have the ability to interpret and apply regulations pertaining to the program. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and have excellent interpersonal skills and possess strong computer and organizational skills.

Quality Control Inspector Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Inspect structural steel for plumb, level, and elevation per AISC Codes and Standards.
* Inspect welding and handling of welding materials for compliance with drawings and governing standards.
* Inspect bolted and/or riveted structural connections by fastening materials, faying surfaces, tension, etc.
* Assist in the inspection of materials received on the job site.
* Assist in the inspection of all phases of steel erection, equipment installation, etc.
* Perform on site internal audit to confirm, or establish compliance with AISC, AWS, and company QA/QC Manual.
* Ensures compliance of AISC and AWS Standards with company subcontractors.
* Work within guidelines provided in company QA/QC Manual and apply codes and standards offered by related governing bodies such as AISC and AWS.
* The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
* Perform non-essential functions as needed.
Quality Control Inspector Qualifications:
* High School education or the equivalent is required.
* Minimum of two years' experience in construction industry and/or welding.
* Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) may be required. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting structural steel drawings.
* Must have excellent communication skills.

Quality Control Inspector Physical Demands:
* Must be able to climb to heights more than 300 feet.
