This includes critical inspection items that may affect the function of the product such as seal verification, lot codes, pouch distribution, and boxing verifications. * Assist in Kit Verifications, Sampling, and Line Clearance Verifications at the beginning and ending of every order. * Assist in the collection of parts to verify accuracy of returns at the end of an order and the distribution of parts to the correct workstation at the beginning of an order. * Fill in as required for any position in all areas of the Quality Department. * Alert supervision or management of problems with materials, assemblies, tools, etc. * Work as a team with the other employees in the Quality Department to complete testing and inspection functions. * Prioritize and complete work in a timely manner as outlined by supervision and management. * Test and inspect multiple product types in any given shift. May require switching between different products during the shift. * Maintain cycle time set by manufacturing when performing inspections and functional tests. * Evaluate product defects and make decisions regarding the status of the product based on the inspection criteria. Notify supervision to perform any necessary rework or reject classification of defective parts. * Maintain working knowledge of processes and instrumentation used in the Quality Department. * Lead in the areas of attitude, work quality, work ethic, dependability, and company loyalty. Experience and Skills: QUALIFICATIONS * Attention for detail, and the ability to accurately record testing results and inspection criteria on quality records. Must be able to complete a position assessment test. * Able to perform routine tasks on a continuing basis. * Able to correctly inspect and test product according to instructions, engineering drawings, customer specifications and training. * Able to correctly use required tools, fixtures, rulers, testing equipment, etc. involved in the testing and inspection processes. * Able to communicate and work with others as a team. * Able to read and write English. * Able to read and understand the product criteria on engineering drawings. * Able to recognize quality problems with materials, work in process, and the final product. * Good work attendance and dependability. * If working nights or shifts with minimal supervision, must be able to pass a criminal background check. The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing materials, in-process and finished products, equipment, and ingredients to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company standards. Working under the Quality Control Laboratory Manager, the technician will maintain, process, analyze, and record results gathered from product development, research and development, and production. Responsibilities + Record and maintain quality testing results and data collection. + Collect, test, and analyze in-process and final product samples to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. + Prepare dilution fluids, tubes, and media for testing. + Carry out microbiologic techniques in an aseptic environment, including streak plates, colony isolation, gram stains, API carbohydrate profiles, and microbial enumeration counts. + Provide support to the research and development department with product development and stability studies. + Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace, including calibration of instruments. + Assist with other quality duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Proficiency in microbiology and biology. + Experience with GMP, HACCP, GLP, OSHA, FDA regulations. + Ability to conduct raw material testing and perform audits. + Familiarity with batch record keeping. Additional Skills & Qualifications + General science, biology, or microbiology experience desired. + Combination of equivalent experience and a two-year college or technical school degree.
