Inspects company products at various stages of manufacture and monitors compliance to the company's quality standards. Documents quality findings in designated software programs and maintains quality data in order to provide quality metric reporting for supplier and manufacturing scorecards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform inspection and testing on parts received from external suppliers, in-line inspections in the manufacturing area, and outgoing inspections for product shipments. Follow Control Plans/Quality Inspection Plans to determine process/product conformance. Review non-conforming materials from value streams and document applicable information concerning the non-conformance on CAREL documentation. Assist with processing of products returned to CAREL on return material authorizations. Familiarity with and ability to utilize various types of measuring and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc. Works with Assembly Operators and Manufacturing Engineers to affirm process controls are being adequately followed. Generate inspection records, product statuses, and summarize data. Be fluent in computer software programs such as MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes, including wave soldering, surface mount applications and mechanical type assembly. Performs inspection on products (cables, circuit cards, assemblies, systems, etc.) manufactured for compliance to CAREL and customer drawings. Performs first piece inspections and audits as required. Verifies all required documentation. Works with other Quality associates in the disposition of non-conforming material and in identification of defect trends in manufacturing processes. Completes documentation of defects through data entry into company software platforms. Submits products to source and/or customer inspectors as required. Assists in keeping the quality department compliant to ISO9001. Reviews and reads drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to understand quality requirements of manufactured products. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS · High School education with 3 years technical experience working in a manufacturing environment. · Previous experience reading drawings, specifications and other technical documentation. Quality Inspector - Reading, PA Hours 2:30pm - 11:00pm Monday through Friday This position performs quality functions for injection molding, light assembly, and warehouse operations. The Quality Inspector ensures product conformity to established requirements by evaluating product drawings, specifications and related documents. Position Summary This position is for a Quality Inspector at our facility located in York, PA. As a Quality Inspector, you will play a hands-on role within the organization and interface with both Operations and Product Development teams while performing incoming inspection of materials and components and performing in-process and final inspections of products for commercial and/or government customers. This position will inspect raw materials, in-process work and finished products for conformance to shop drawings, specifications, and codes by performing the below duties. Responsibilities Conduct complete layout inspections, measuring dimensions (length, height, angles, radii, etc.) using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes. Verify quality at all stages: incoming materials, in-process work, and final products. Visually inspect parts, welds, bolts, coatings, and assemblies; compare pieces to detect variations; enforce standards and legal requirements. Interpret and apply shop drawings, specifications, ASTM codes, AISC standards, DOT requirements, and welding/bolting/painting codes. Maintain accurate inspection records, defect lists, and calibration of measuring equipment; coordinate with departments to resolve quality issues. Support operator training on measurement, visual acceptability, and processes; assist with internal and external audits. Manage NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) training, testing, certification, and documentation; maintain CWI certification. Review and approve quality-related purchase orders, reports, and testing requirements. Assist in developing procedures, quality summaries, and corrective actions; enforce non-conformance protocols. Serve as liaison with outside inspectors; investigate shop/field errors and support resolutions. Perform other QA-related tasks as required by supervision. Qualifications Strong knowledge of welding symbols and diagrams, and inspection tools. Highly proficient in reading blueprints and other printed instructional material. Basic Math & Geometry/Trigonometry. Familiar with variety of weld processes: Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Sub Arc Welding (SAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and/or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Ability to perform and document inspection activities during fabrication and welding of structural piece members.
