Actalent is seeking a lab technician to support an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This role involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. The position is a long term opportunity and on 3rd shift, from 10:30pm - 6:30am, Monday-Friday. • Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements. • Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product's physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests. • Test on materials from suppliers and batches from production • Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality • Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan • Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic) • Recognize roadblocks or anomalies; resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner • Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labelled • Correctly label and mail samples • Maintain clean and organized work environment • Tint batches without assistance • Calculate resin composites • Maintain QC records using web based computer system • Prepare records for submission • Testing on lab equipment-viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, % solids • Draw downs • Use of ovens • Maintaining and performing calibrations on machines

We are seeking a dedicated lab technician to join an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This position involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. This long-term opportunity operates on the 3rd shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
+ Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with a high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.
+ Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure the product's physical or chemical characteristics, including viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, and color characteristics.
+ Conduct tests on materials from suppliers and production batches.
+ Perform standard testing procedures, including preparation of materials, with attention to detail and high quality.
+ Follow daily work plans for Lab Work Requests or project plans.
+ Accurately document work in lab notebooks, either physical or electronic.
+ Recognize roadblocks or anomalies and resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner.
+ Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labeled.
+ Correctly label and mail samples.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
+ Tint batches without assistance and calculate resin composites.
+ Maintain quality control records using a web-based computer system and prepare records for submission.
+ Operate lab equipment for tests such as viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, and percent solids.
+ Perform draw downs, use ovens, and maintain and perform calibrations on machines.

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial lab environment within the plant. Personal protective equipment such as lab coats and safety glasses will be provided. On the first day of training, you will receive steel-toed boots/shoes, which will be reimbursed. The facility has strong chemical and paint odors; candidates should not be sensitive to these conditions. The lab is large, with at least five people per shift at all times. The position operates on the 3rd shift, Monday to Friday from 10 PM to 6:30 AM, with initial training on the 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, lasting approximately three weeks.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.25 - $25.25/hr.

Schedule: 2nd Shift (4:00PM - 3:30AM) The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for all aspects of the quality programs and functions. These include maintaining all HACCP, food safety records, plant audits, mock recall programs and training the plant on these issues and procedures. SUMMARY
Under the direction of the QA Supervisor, the Quality Auditor provides support to production and the Quality Management System (QMS) by performing inspection activities to product processed at each stage of operations, ensuring quality specifications adhere to prints/drawing, inspections sheets and travelers. WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Product testing and Inspection (Visual, Dimensional, Pressure decay, Vacuum decay, etc.…)
* Cross Checks of product at each stage of operations to prints/drawings, traveler, inspection sheets, Control Plan and Visual Criteria
* Issue gauges to employees and ensure gauges are calibrated and properly identified
* Collection and data entry of inspection results and/or quality records
* Monitoring of gauge inventory and other quality supplies
* Identification and reporting of nonconforming product.
* Ensure product is inspected or tested according to the inspection protocol or plan
* Training of quality expectations to operations personnel when changes to the inspection process have been changed
* Assists with the plant wide communication of Quality Alerts or Quality concerns
* Has the authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected
* Assists members of the Quality Department as needed and as time permits
