QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR
About The Role
The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is responsible for the accuracy of all items fabricated within the shop.
As the QCI, you will act as the gate keeper for all items fabricated. As the QCI you will use a combination of code knowledge (AWS, AISC, RCSC, etc.) and technical expertise to verify that the final product is free of defects and meets the requirements in the contract documents and company fabrication drawings.
Responsibilities Candidate Requirements
• Conduct inspections for dimensions, fit-up, welds, bolts, and paint. Ensure all aspects meet contract and code requirements.
• Scheduling, communicating, and coordinating with 3rd party (QAI) inspectors.
• Ensure received materials, parts, and consumables meet all quality requirements.
• Conduct welder qualification testing.
• Develop company WPS and PQRs as required.
• Maintain and ensure fabrication adheres to company quality management system and AISC standards
• Certified welding inspector (CWI) with current certification preferred. At minimum, Associate welding inspector (AWI) with current certification is required.
• Extensive knowledge of welding code, including AWS D1.1.
• Knowledge of RCSC bolt inspection and testing requirements.
• Experience with AISC audits preferred
• Knowledge of NOMMA and AESS finish requirements preferred.
• Experience working in fabrication or erection environment.
