Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Quality Inspector - Level 2 to join our team in Lanham, MD. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
In this job, you will:
Directly supporting Procurement and Production activity requiring verification of compliance to program and engineering requirements
Utilizing the Manufacturing Execution System to record the results of characteristics included in Inspection Plans and Work Order operations
Inspecting purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements
Inspecting for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, and calipers
Visually inspecting for obvious defects
Verifying specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists
Making pass/fail decisions on inspected goods, maintaining records of results. Inspections may involve compound angles or three-dimensional projections using inspection equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators.
Performing Prohibited Material verification using both bench top XRF machine and handheld XRF machine
For Production support, using predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to visually inspect in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, and subassemblies, for structural flaws, internal defects, and missing components.
Works from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. .
Documents findings not meeting requirements of Work Order, Engineering documentation, and applicable standards in a Manufacturing Execution System
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start
Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of EEE components, mechanical inspections, and non-destructive testing.
ASQ CQI, NASA, J-standard, or relative certifications
Experience supporting dispositions for non-conforming material, root cause/corrective action analysis.
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems, e.g. SAP, Cost Point, Solumina, etc.
Ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications, and related criteria
Understanding of GD&T

The Technical Service/Quality Control Technician implements and complies with quality assurance methods and procedures to ensure products and materials are produced in accordance with specifications.
Essential Functions:
Perform specimen tests of concrete from random loads or for special jobs or mixes; prepare test reports as required.
Oversee unique jobs to ensure product standards are met, i.e., jobs that have restrictive specifications or require large quantities of material to be delivered.
Perform aggregates and batch plants tests including daily graduation and moisture tests on all concrete being produced for State and spec projects.
Certify concrete loads being delivered to "spec" jobs in accordance with SHA specifications; check loads for proper procedure and time of mixing.
Perform quality assurance tests on trial batches of new concrete mix designs under close tolerance conditions and make adjustments until mixture meets specifications.
Troubleshoot problems with customers, analyze and evaluate specific conditions, situations, quantities, etc., and provide appropriate resolution.
Provide technical assistance and training to plant managers, equipment and yard operators, and drivers when requested.
Perform laboratory tests including gradation, moisture, lightweight particles and specific gravity tests on aggregates.
Select samples for materials that need certification by an outside laboratory or that are beyond the department capability. Transport these samples to the testing agency.
Perform additional tasks such as cleaning facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness, moving equipment and materials, and completing tasks for other positions when incumbent is absent.
Assist the Technical Services Manager and Assistant Manager as needed.

Minimum of 3 years of construction quality control experience on federal, IDIQ, or FFP-type contracts.
Familiarity with USACE/NAVFAC 3-phase QC system is highly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and QA/QC standards.
Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficient with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, QC software).
Must be able to pass security clearance and background check as required by federal contracts.
Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements
Work may be performed at active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
Frequent travel may be required to support multiple task orders across a geographic region.
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc. but generally not to the point of being disagreeable.

What You'll Do:
Ensure the quality, safety, and sanitation of spices and seasoning products by monitoring and inspecting all stages of production. Work closely with production staff to verify that products meet company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform at least 3 room inspections per shift
Accurately weigh oils and verify batch card details
Confirm correct ingredients and weights on batch cards
Count and record total packaged units per batch
Monitor and document in-process and finished product quality checks
Enforce company food safety and sanitation policies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required
Associate degree in lab/science field preferred
Experience in quality control strongly preferred
Experience in spices, seasonings, or food manufacturing is a plus
Experience with operating a forklift is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills (English required)
Basic math skills required
Ability to taste and smell spices accurately for quality control
Comfortable using computers and completing documentation
Stand and walk for entire shift; walk long distances
Push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 lbs
Reach overhead and perform repetitive hand motions
Kneel, stoop, bend, and climb ladders or platforms
Work at heights of 6 feet or more
Tolerate exposure to strong spice odors and ingredients
Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms
Visual acuity (near and far) required
Must be able to work occasional overtime and weekends
Flexible to work in varying temperatures and production areas
Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty and may contain spices with high heat intensity
