Purpose
Accountable for basic operation of the site's quality assurance and control program including but not limited to: assisting and supporting all safety, environmental and quality regulations, product testing and adherence to standards, targets and recipes, maintain relevant equipment and calibrations, and decision-making through basic statistical understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and regulations and participate in facility health & safety activities as assigned
Use descriptive statistics to identify non-conforming material to site referenced standards and targets
Ensure all relevant quality requirements are consistently met according to the QA manual and plant SOPs
Ensure that non-conforming product is appropriately quarantined, identified and segregated according to standard procedures
Ensure the communication of non-conformance is clear and concise to required parties.
Disposition basic non-conforming product as allowed by site Technical Manager.
Record testing and inspection results by inputting into appropriate database or spreadsheets while identifying and responding to test results outside of product standards and targets
Verify that all product packaging and appearance standards meet site and client expectations.
Generate and analyze reports and charts
Monitor and document process parameter changes as assigned
Communicate test results and observations to operations and management to maintain process and product conformance
Monitor and record consumption and inventory of raw materials (wax, resin, etc.).
Verify quality of raw materials as required
Support preventive and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
Assist in process and product tests/trials.
Be pro-active in identifying and performing other tasks to maintain and improve safety, quality and environmental performance
Demonstrate adherence to process and product SOPs, JSAs, check sheets and other QMS documentation
Provide support to team members when a quality issue arises
Demonstrate drive and willingness to advance to higher levels of responsibility
Perform in a relief capacity for production coordinator

Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree and two years of experience in laboratory work, quality control, or general manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
Knowledge of and ability to follow all quality and process standards
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and supporting software, to include spreadsheet and statistical packages
Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes
Demonstrated ability to operate sample preparation and testing equipment
Knowledge of inventory management
Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills
Proficient math skills and statistical knowledge, including concepts
Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (both hand tools and electrical/motorized equipment)
Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated ability to work while wearing a respirator and/or other safety clothing or equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related scientific field preferred

SUMMARY
This position is responsible to ensure product compliance with all Critical Control Points and Preventative Controls for the production of Low Acid Canned Foods (LACF) (21CFR113).
Completes quality checks for Canning activities to assure that WIPs (work-in-process) and finished products meet specified requirements. Assesses manufacturing and equipment conditions to assure they meet specified requirements.
Provision for coverage of these responsibilities during an absence includes substitution by Canning Op 1, QFS Canning Coordinator, or similar trained and qualified personnel.

Conducts monitoring tests on WIPs and/or finished products: weight, viscosity, pH, brix, moisture, strained weight, vacuums, etc.
Evaluates flavor, texture and odor of soups, sauces and finished products.

Inspects and evaluates packaging including can seams, label placement, lid tightness, line clearance between products, etc.

Immediately reports out-of-spec materials and operating conditions to the Manufacturing and QFS Supervisors.
Assists with solutions to problems encountered with products and procedures.

Monitors Good Manufacturing Practices of all individuals in the plant and warehouse. Advises infractions to supervisor.

Position Summary: The Quality Technician is responsible for verifying quality procedures on our production floor to ensure that all products meet our internal standards. This role helps monitor GMPs on the production floor and ensure that all personnel and processes adhere to proper Food Safety practices, addressing any quality deviations that may arise. In addition, the Quality Technician is responsible for performing routine checks on all packaging lines and reviewing and verifying all records completed by production and operations. The Quality team works closely with the production team and laboratory team to ensure the production of quality products in a timely fashion.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and recommendations to employees in production regarding GMPs, product specifications, and food safety practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Inspect parts to ensure conformity to the customer requirement and to industry standards. These inspections include dimensional, visual, material handling, workmanship, paint applications, free of all FOD
• Utilize various measuring tools, which may include manual measuring instruments, CMMs, mylars, visual measuring systems, etc.
• Prepare, update, and inspect Company and Customer inspection records for accuracy, communicating as needed, clearly and concisely.
• Actively contributes to a culture of continuous improvement
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
5 - 6 years of relevant experience
High school degree or equivalent, plus advanced training
Technical Skills:
Excellent attention to detail
Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
Basic computer skills
Problem solving abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use measuring equipment
Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
Understand and obey safety requirements
Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
