I - Job Purpose and Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician I is responsible to:

8. FG sample preparation and micro testing. Environmental monitoring and sample preparation. Coordinate samples, testing, results and follow up with corrective actions (if needed).
9. Perform analyses and special project(s) as required.
10. Raw material inspection, testing and release.
11. Visual inspection after sanitation, coordinate line cleaning, update production managers on the outcome, grade sanitation, follow up on actions and completion.
12. Create and assign CAR's (knowledgeable in the CAR process).
13. Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for areas of responsibility.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Develop and construct quality assurance test plans based on product specifications and requirements.

The BWXT facility in Mt. Vernon, Indiana is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to join the Quality Team.
What we do
Situated on a 100-acre site, our facility has 600,000 square feet of shop area and a 1,000-ton lift capacity from the shop to the river. The Mount Vernon facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce components for naval nuclear reactors, which are used in submarines and aircraft carriers.
What you'll do
Support of production manufacturing processes.
Resolution of quality issues.
Assist in the development and implementation of inspection plans.
Participate or lead audits of internal departments and suppliers to assure compliance to customer and internal requirements.
Shop floor surveillance to ensure compliance to internal procedures and customer standards.
Support of hourly inspection personnel and development of inspection technique documentation.
Leadership of process improvement activities.
Maintenance of quality assurance records.
Participation on design teams for development of product improvement actions.
Procedure development and ownership.
Maintenance of ISO 9000 Quality system procedures and work instructions.
Management of CAPA (Corrective Action) resolution for component processes.
Design and implement functional gauges for BWXT hardware.
Prepare capital packages for purchase of new gauges.
Support other Quality Engineers with gauging and inspection planning needs.
Develop and maintain Dimensional Inspection Technique sheets (DITS).
Create CAD models and drawings. Strong solid model CAD experience a plus.
What we need from you
Minimum BS Degree in Engineering or technical field is required.
Three to five years of quality assurance, engineering or manufacturing experience is required.
Solid math/statistical skills and knowledgeable in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and print reading.
Experience or knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding and assembly preferred but not required.
Experience or knowledge of inspection techniques including dimensional inspection, NDE methods such as ultrasound, mag particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection and /or radiography preferred by not required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

Pay: $77,000.00 - $116,000
The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000.00 and $116,000 per year. Full-time Description
This position is responsible for verifying that parts made at FIA meet TIS requirements and all processes involved in the production and delivery of parts are followed via audits.
Perform dimensional and attribute checks using check fixtures, caliper, taper gauge, feeler gauge and surface indicators to ensure product and components meet specified standards.
Visually inspect finished product and components to ensure they meet specified standards.
Perform chisel, thread, torque, hammer, weld and shim count checks on Change Point Pieces.
Perform audits as specified by QC Management Team.
Elevate nonconformities or other abnormal conditions to the QC Team Leader and/or Supervisor and also notifying Production Team.
Assist QC leadership with containment and sorting of defective vendor components and finished product.
Support Quality improvement and cost saving initiatives such as scrap reduction and reworking of parts when appropriate.
