South Central - Quality Technician
Quality control technician job in Gillette, WY
Buckskin Mining Company is a surface coal mine located 10 miles north of Gillette, Wyoming within the Southern Powder River Basin. The mine delivers its coal to numerous customers throughout the United States and has shipped more than 406 million tons of high-quality, low sulfur coal to its customers.
Buckskin is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shovel Mechanic to join its team. Eligible applicant(s) must be able to work safely in a surface coal mine environment while performing duties of this position. This person(s) must have a history of producing quality work with attention to detail and completing the job right the first time. This person(s) must poses the following experience.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
* Read and understand plans and specifications, which includes the Operator's Manuals for equipment repair.
* Use appropriate hand and power tools to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment
* Receive equipment assigned to the job and document the condition; set this equipment up on a regular service and inspection schedules
* Organize a library of reference material, equipment files, and backlog schedules
* Evaluate a timetable to assure certifications such as for cranes and commercial vehicles
* Assist equipment operators in effectively using the Daily Walkaround Report
* Assist the project with the generation of an accurate Equipment Locator
* Assure the efficient, clean and safe fueling and oiling of equipment

* Perform weld repairs as needed on large mining equipment, with the ability to run an air arc, oxy-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, weld with stick, hardwire, and II70.
* Ability to read blueprints and fabricate based off the blueprints.
* Ability to run support equipment such as forklift, front end loader, overhead cranes, and knuckle truck.
* Work with contractors on major rebuilds.
* Write work orders and order appropriate parts.
* Ability to perform work in a safe manner with minimal supervision, while following best practices and in accordance with company policies.

JOB TITLE:
Aviation Engineering Technician II
JOB PURPOSE:
This Aviation Engineering Technician II position with the University of Wyoming's Atmospheric Science Department is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated individual to join an internationally regarded research and instrument integration team. Using their technical talents, they will support the design, testing, installation and deployment of scientific research instrumentation including lidar, radar and in-situ instruments along with infrastructure to support the installations. These instruments are utilized on the Department's King Air 350 research aircraft, mobile air chemistry facilities and/or laboratory platforms for purposes of atmospheric and environmental research.
This multi-faceted position will require the knowledge to perform complex-level research, design, fabrication and troubleshooting of electronic and electrical systems under limited supervision. This team member will be responsible for the development, interpretation and adaptation of project plans, techniques, designs, drawings, schematics, and layouts to oversee the completion of projects by reviewing, analyzing and integrating the technical work of others to support teaching and research activities within the department.
This is an at-will grant funded staff position. This position involves working on both national and international field projects with occasional hours being worked outside the normal workday, including evenings and weekends along with intermittent travel to support scientific field campaigns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide specialized technical support for the Wyoming King Air Research Aircraft, mobile laboratories, and research facilities, exercising independent judgment in troubleshooting and repairs.
Participate in national and international field deployments, serving as a ground or airborne crewmember responsible for scientific system operations, data collection, and flight monitoring.
Lead assembly, installation, and maintenance of complex equipment and systems; develop and implement solutions to systematic problems.

Maintain inventory of replacement parts and supplies; may monitor project-related budgets and expenditures.

Job Summary
The Lab Technician will perform precise sample preparation, testing, and analysis of ores, tailings, and other bulk materials to support DISA's minerals processing and remediation projects. This role involves operating laboratory equipment, following standard operating procedures, maintaining accurate data records, and ensuring the integrity of all samples processed. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to innovative mineral recovery research and operations. Education/ Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Chemistry, Geology, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
1-3 years of laboratory or mining industry experience preferred.
Experience with mineral processing, reclamation, or industrial labs a strong plus.

Senior Process Engineer, unless otherwise designated.
Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare samples by receiving, labeling, crushing, splitting, and grinding drill-core, ore, and tailings samples for testing.
Safely operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., jaw crusher, ring-and-puck mill, pressure filters, drying ovens, analytical balances).
Accurately log results into spreadsheets and databases, including Microsoft Excel and other lab software.
Follow and improve standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and reproducible results.
Perform daily maintenance checks, routine calibrations, and minor troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Communicate findings clearly with Lab Manager and other team members.
Assist in special projects, research, or field support tasks as needed.
Maintain Tools and Equipment: Keep tools and workspaces clean and organized, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA.
Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.
