Essential Functions Quality Assurance & Compliance Manage and maintain the plant's Quality Management System (QMS) to meet internal, customer, and third-party audit requirements. Oversee daily QA operations including product testing, process verification, and documentation review. Lead and coordinate internal, customer, and regulatory audits (FDA, USDA, State, GFSI). Investigate non-conformances, implement root cause analysis, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Ensure compliance with labeling, allergen control, and traceability requirements. Maintain accurate and complete quality and production records in compliance with regulatory standards. Food Safety & HACCP Serve as the plant's PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual). Oversee implementation, verification, and validation of food safety programs including HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, environmental monitoring, and supplier verification. Lead the Food Safety Team and ensure effective communication of food safety objectives across departments. Monitor trends in microbiological results, environmental swabs, and product testing to proactively identify risks. Leadership & Training Develop and deliver employee training on GMPs, food safety, allergen control, sanitation, and quality awareness. Promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement throughout the facility. Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams to ensure alignment with quality objectives. Continuous Improvement Analyze process data to identify opportunities for quality improvement and waste reduction. Support implementation of initiatives related to product quality and safety. Recommend and validate changes to formulations, processes, or equipment to improve quality performance. In this role, the QUALITY TECHNICIAN will ensure materials and finished goods conform to all company and customer standards. Perform inspections on incoming materials and in-process and final product to ensure quality levels are met. Perform first piece set-up and First Article Inspections in accordance with established inspection plans. Assist Quality Engineers in the execution of engineering studies. QUALITY TECHNICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: Conduct receiving, in-process, final inspections, and first piece set-up utilizing the appropriate measuring tools and equipment to verify dimensional and functional requirements. Conduct visual examination of product in accordance with customer specifications and company workmanship standards. Perform formal documented First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for internal and external customers. Prepare, maintain, and review inspection reports. Assist Quality Engineers in the creation of inspection plans. Perform containment activities preventing potential or additional quality defects. Develop in-process control charts for monitoring / improving performance as requested. Perform as auditee in respect to inspection processes for internal and external audit support as requested. Assist engineering in the execution of engineering studies such as measurement system analysis, capability analysis, etc. as requested. Perform problem solving activities for both product and manufacturing processes. Effectively communicate with cross-functional areas: supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, quality engineering, customer service, production planning. Train and Mentor Quality Technicians I and II. Participate in lean activities as required. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5+ years of quality assurance experience required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Skilled in use of standard inspection equipment and basic hand tools, such as: calipers, micrometers, steel rules, pin gages, go-no-go gages, CMM and Vision equipment. Understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawings and specifications, sampling techniques, and safety information. Working knowledge of ISO 13485, AS 9100, FDA Quality System Regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently. Ability to demonstrate a record of excellent performance in meeting high standards of quality, quantity and dependability (attendance and punctuality). Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate and work well with others. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be detail oriented to keep accurate records and files. Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.
