FLSA Status: Exempt Primary Job Function The Quality Assurance Manager is lead person for the IMC Quality Management System (QMS), giving daily direction to quality personnel concerning quality related issues vs. production scheduling, inspection and testing. Works with customer on quality issues keeping the key managers in the loop on customer perceptions of IMC. Assists in setup and analysis of quality metrics, quality product reviews and new product development documentation. Reports quality performance metrics to all functions of the organization. The metal fabrication Quality Control Technician is responsible for verifying all fabricated metal parts meet established quality standards. The technician will work closely with the Quality Engineer to complete inspections throughout the production process. This involves using measuring tools and techniques to identify defects, ensuring compliance with blueprints and specifications, and reporting any issues to production teams to maintain product quality and prevent further problems. Responsibilities + Inspect fabricated parts by visually and physically examining metal components at various stages of production, such as raw materials, cut pieces, welded joints, and finished products, to check for dimensional accuracy, surface defects, and compliance with design specifications. + Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met. + Read blueprints and specifications to thoroughly understand engineering drawings and technical specifications and verify that each fabricated part adheres to the intended design. + Identify potential quality issues such as misalignment, warping, scratches, dents, improper welding, and other imperfections during inspection. + Document inspection findings on quality control forms, noting any non-conforming parts and documenting corrective actions taken. + Communicate with production teams by reporting identified issues to production personnel and providing feedback to improve manufacturing processes and prevent future quality problems. + Implement corrective actions by working with operators to address quality issues by adjusting machining parameters, re-working defective parts, or implementing process improvements. + Maintain quality standards by ensuring adherence to established quality control procedures and industry standards, including safety regulations. Essential Skills + Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, and bending. + Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. + Attention to detail with the ability to check large quantities of documents to ensure they meet code specifications. + Expertise in using both standard and precision measuring tools, such as tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, and gauges. + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. + Familiarity with quality control methodologies and documentation practices. + Proficiency in working with computers, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook. + Availability to work overtime as required, including some weekend work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Interest in becoming a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). + Ability to train and mentor others. Work Environment The role involves splitting time between the office and the shop floor, looking at parts, reviewing documentation specific to each build, and interacting with machine operators, welders, and inspectors. Purpose Accountable for basic operation of the site's quality assurance and control program including but not limited to: assisting and supporting all safety, environmental and quality regulations, product testing and adherence to standards, targets and recipes, maintain relevant equipment and calibrations, and decision-making through basic statistical understanding. Key Responsibilities * Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and regulations and participate in facility health & safety activities as assigned * Use descriptive statistics to identify non-conforming material to site referenced standards and targets * Ensure all relevant quality requirements are consistently met according to the QA manual and plant SOPs * Ensure that non-conforming product is appropriately quarantined, identified and segregated according to standard procedures * Ensure the communication of non-conformance is clear and concise to required parties. * Disposition basic non-conforming product as allowed by site Technical Manager. * Record testing and inspection results by inputting into appropriate database or spreadsheets while identifying and responding to test results outside of product standards and targets * Verify that all product packaging and appearance standards meet site and client expectations. * Generate and analyze reports and charts * Monitor and document process parameter changes as assigned * Communicate test results and observations to operations and management to maintain process and product conformance * Monitor and record consumption and inventory of raw materials (wax, resin, etc.). * Verify quality of raw materials as required * Support preventive and unscheduled maintenance tasks. * Assist in process and product tests/trials. * Be pro-active in identifying and performing other tasks to maintain and improve safety, quality and environmental performance * Demonstrate adherence to process and product SOPs, JSAs, check sheets and other QMS documentation * Provide support to team members when a quality issue arises * Demonstrate drive and willingness to advance to higher levels of responsibility * Perform in a relief capacity for production coordinator * Perform other duties as assigned * Models company core values * Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications * Associate's Degree and two years of experience in laboratory work, quality control, or general manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience * Knowledge of and ability to follow all quality and process standards * Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and supporting software, to include spreadsheet and statistical packages * Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes * Demonstrated ability to operate sample preparation and testing equipment * Knowledge of inventory management * Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills * Proficient math skills and statistical knowledge, including concepts * Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (both hand tools and electrical/motorized equipment) * Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds * Demonstrated ability to work while wearing a respirator and/or other safety clothing or equipment Preferred Qualifications * Associate degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related scientific field preferred * Three (3) years plywood, composite, or engineered wood manufacturing experience
