Position Responsibilities:
Receive and prioritize jobs from vendors or stores based on lead instructions or shop procedures. Review inspection plans thoroughly, whether online or paper-based.
Verify completeness and accuracy of all necessary documentation, including part numbers, serial numbers, lot numbers, and quantities.
Select appropriate test procedures (e.g., shear, tensile, proof load) using software tools and Boeing specifications. Set test parameters and operate Universal Test Machines with proper fixtures to perform material and part tests.
Set up and dismantle fixtures, jigs, and attachments using appropriate tools to facilitate testing.
Operate various test equipment such as Static Tensile Testers, Oscillating Dynamic Loaders, Dead Weight Testers, hardness testers, extensometers, and stress-strain recorders, loading and unloading specimens as required.
Use mathematical calculations (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) to compute test parameters per specifications.
Perform a variety of tests including proof load, static load, tensile/compression, tensile/shear, torque inspections, weld procedure qualifications, and drive-ability tests on materials, parts, and assemblies.
Verify weights of test items using scales to ensure compliance with specifications.
Reject non-conforming materials or parts, document discrepancies citing relevant specifications, and submit reports to the Material Review Board (MRB). Secure non-conforming items to maintain control and traceability.
Conduct re-inspections and initiate Reinspection Requests (R/R) as needed, coordinating with Material Review Segregation Area (MRSA) and other inspection groups.
Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to verify dimensions and compliance.
Indicate Quality Assurance acceptance on paperwork and online systems, processing documentation per procedures.
Monitor manufacturing processes such as chrome plating and heat treating to ensure quality standards.
Ensure all tools and test equipment certifications are current.
Interface with internal and external organizations (production, engineering, planning, customers) to resolve process or job-related issues.
Assist and train lower-grade employees on functions, methods, and procedures.
Work independently to plan, set up, and operate various test equipment to determine material properties such as hardness, tensile strength, compression strength, yield strength, and torque.
Prepare and measure test specimens, record data, calculate areas and stresses, and plot stress-strain curves. Adapt and improvise equipment setups as needed.
Troubleshoot test-related problems and coordinate with engineering to analyze defects and recommend corrective actions.
Initiate and document nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.
Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance.
Utilize blueprints, drawings, specifications, inspection manuals, and mathematical formulas (including trigonometry) to complete assignments.
Test raw materials (metals, fabrics, textiles, plastics) and semi-finished materials (castings, forgings, cables, hose, sandwich panels).
Conduct proof load tests on miscellaneous equipment such as safety belts, slings, and handling equipment.
Refer questionable cases or suggested improvements to lead inspectors or supervisors.
Prepare data for test reports as required.
Follow inspection procedures to accept or reject materials or parts.
Analyze problems involving forces, moments, and stresses.
Review manufacturers' technical test reports for accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with engineering, suppliers, FAA, and airline customer representatives to develop and improve testing processes.
Coordinate with other departments and customers to accomplish work assignments.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Working Environment

Position Summary:
Candidates for NDT Inspector Level 3 will possess the skills and knowledge to perform all the duties of a trainee, Level 1-Limited and Level 2, and can also independently inspect parts, make evaluations, perform required process tests and document results. Selected candidates as a Level 3 Inspector shall be knowledgeable in all NDT methods used by Protective Coatings and have familiarity with other NDT methods as represented in Level 3 ASNT testing. A Level 3 Inspector shall at times perform inspections on chemically treated metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemblies under fluorescent or black lighting for defects such as fissures, weld breaks, or fractures using magnetic particle inspection (MAG) and liquid penetrant inspection (FPI) processes and equipment. The Level 3 will be responsible for maintaining all NDT training, qualification, certification, and performance levels of active NDT personnel. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates of this position must have strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Supports supervision of 10-30 employees in the NDT/MAG/Penetrant areas. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Conduct or direct the training, examination and certification of personnel in the method certified.
Establish and approve NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy and compliance to requirements.
Maintain and review NDT personnel qualification and certification files and review performance levels of active NDT personnel.

Obtains, labels and transports samples to the laboratory in a timely manner as required by each specific job assignment.
Maintains assigned inspection equipment in good working order and ensures equipment is properly calibrated and stored.
Measures (gauge and temperature) products and performs all required field calculations per the API Standards, completes all required field documentation and submits reports to the Operations Department in a timely manner.
Performs specialized inspection services such as loss control, wall washings or confined space entry upon receiving required training.
Assists in the training of Probationary and Junior Inspectors.
Fitness for Duty - Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours; however, this can vary day to day or shift to shift. Much of the work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for prolonged duration of time. Work may be performed during day or nighttime hours and may involve working alone.
