Scope of Responsibility: This position is responsible for inspecting tacked, welded, painted, galvanized and manufactured parts and components for quality per the Company's quality control processes and procedures. Essential Duties: * Communicates clearly and concisely via email, text, or verbally. * Ensures all inspections comply with Sabre's quality standards. * Conducts in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 * Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing. * Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products. * Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements. * Prepares, reviews and maintains Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information. * Visually inspects manufactured parts to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications. * Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met or exceeded. * Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation. * Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed. * Maintains a professional demeanor at all times. * Performs other duties as assigned. * High school diploma or equivalent. Two-year Associate/Technical degree preferred. Must be able to meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector within the first 6 months. * Effectively read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols. * Must possess strong English verbal and written communication skills. * Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, team environment. * Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blueprints, and design drawings. * Ability to efficiently input and retrieve information from PC based information systems. * Ability to effectively use measuring devices such as a tape measure, combination squares, levels, etc. to accurately verify all parts to print. * Regular and on-time attendance. * Work in your shift as scheduled. * Must work well with others. Physical Requirements: * Must be able to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time. * Must be able to lift, push pry and drag heavy materials up to 50 lbs. * Must be able to reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crawl under or climb over to inspect product. * Must be able to pass the Jaeger 2 test and distinguish between red and yellow. * Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold. The incumbent will work with our operations teams to execute sorting / containment activities upon the identification of any defect. The ability to read technical drawings and specifications is required of the incumbent to be able to inspect special characteristics that can affect the proper fit, form, and function of Gates finished goods. The ability to utilize common inspection equipment such as calipers, tape measures, micrometers, thread gages, depth gages, and gage blocks is preferred and will aid the successful candidate. Good interpersonal skills and effective communication with customer and internal personnel are essential to success in this role as well. This position reports directly to the Brantford, Canada Quality Supervisor and is vital in completing activities that improve customer satisfaction with Gates. Operates material handling equipment. Stores, locates, and pulls material, and performs necessary computer transactions for inventory control and tracking. Performs other job assignments and responsibilities as directed and/or when specific requirements or workload dictate. The NQT shall participate in teams to accomplish specific goals of the Value Streams such as throughput, quality, cost of operations, safety, Lean manufacturing, and training. The NQT shall ensure adequate coverage of Inspection duties to prevent a lapse in product flow. All members of the Value Stream shall be proficient in the performance of auditing practices established. Individuals shall follow all plant and department rules. The NQT shall be responsible for meeting daily production goals. Educational and Physical Requirements: Must be able to read and comprehend procedures and processing documentation. Capable of writing legibly when filling out required documentation, perform average calculations, and interpret complicated part drawings. The NQT will be required to exhibit suitable Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) skills. Must display natural or corrected vision of 20/22 with both eyes and normal color perception. Must be capable of reading a minimum of Jaeger 1 letters at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart. More specifically, the person will: Assist manufacturing with implementation and compliance to company quality standards, procedures, work instructions, and certification requirements. Audit product and processes to assure compliance to standard work. Coach and train employees on proper work methods and promote understanding of quality standards. Work with management to evaluate and troubleshoot problems causing quality-related defects. Assist with corrective action teams to resolve identified problems. Ensure all parts and components are accurate according to specifications. Evaluate compliance of finished products to applicable specifications and tolerances. Compile data and complete special inspection reports per customer qualification requirements (i.e., ITP, PPAP, etc.). Evaluate returned goods and complete analysis reports (RGA) in a timely manner. Use and understand various paperwork, including but not limited to schedules, prints, & tech standards. Assist with selection, tracking and calibration of gages and measuring equipment. Assist with development and implementation of new and revised measurement systems. Use advanced measurement devices to provide data for manufacturing and engineering when required. Maintain accurate data and records in correct file locations and databases. Provide necessary reports to supervisors and management. Create, review and update work instructions, procedures, and other quality documents. Use proficient computer skills employing Microsoft Word, Excel, and be able to learn other special software as required to complete assigned responsibilities. Perform general housekeeping and maintenance on equipment. Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments within the work area. Regular, consistent attendance.
