Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician (QT) will be an expert in the quality requirements of each production line as well as the quality system (APC). Job Description
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metals and critical material technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant just outside of Reno, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separation, chemical extraction, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our Li-ion battery recycling operation. This critical role reports directly to the Head of Quality and plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of our battery disassembly, processing, and finished product quality. This position is for our D-shift staff, working nights, Thursday through Saturday, and every other Wednesday.
Requirements
Experience: Proven professional experience (2+ years) in a quality control, technician, or related technical role, preferably within a manufacturing, recycling, or complex technical environment.
Battery Expertise: Direct hands-on experience with Li-ion battery technology, including familiarity with common battery pack and module architectures.
Mechanical Fluency: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using a variety of hand tools for precise disassembly, inspection, and maintenance tasks.
Documentation & Communication: Excellent written communication skills, with experience in technical writing, including the creation and maintenance of SOPs, work instructions, and quality reports.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to recording data, performing inspections, and accurately executing product sampling protocols.
Responsibilities
In-Process Quality Control & Sampling:
Execute routine sampling and testing of recycled products (e.g., black mass, metal fractions) generated by the recycling operation multiple times per day.
Document and report all test results, non-conformances, and material inconsistencies accurately.
Disassembly Inspection & Assurance:
Conduct in-depth mechanical disassembly and inspection of battery packs and modules, requiring proficient use of various hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, sockets, multimeters).
Perform visual, dimensional, and functional quality inspections on incoming Li-ion battery packs and modules to ensure non-conforming material does not enter our recycling process.
Work closely with production personnel during the disassembly process to verify adherence to quality and safety standards.
Procedure Development & Documentation:
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to develop and write clear, concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe Li-ion battery disassembly and initial processing steps.
Maintain and update quality records, inspection logs, and documentation systems in compliance with quality management standards.
Safety & Compliance:
Support and enforce strict adherence to quality management systems and internal safety standards.
Crucially, a strong preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Li-ion battery electrical safety protocols and high-voltage handling best practices.
Nice-to-Have
Knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety standards and procedures relevant to Li-ion batteries (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA guidelines).
Experience utilizing analytical equipment for material testing or quality assurance in a manufacturing or recycling environment.
Relevant technical certification or associate's degree (e.g., Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or Quality Assurance).

The Quality Technician performs quality control tests/inspections on products at various stages of production process.
Duties require verbal and written communication ability, visual acuity to product detail, manual coordination to operate hand tools and testing equipment, ability to enter data in computer system and the physical ability to lift various weights.
Essential Job Functions
Performs quality check of printed, laminated and slit roll samples and pouches on a regular basis to verify Operator's result for dimension.
Operates quality control testing equipment/tools.
Collects and manages sample retained.
Collaborate with Operator and Production Supervisor in ensuring product conformance during job set up for approval to run.
Respond and assist Production and/or Quality Supervisor in verifying reported non-conformities for quick resolution or corrective action.
Communicate deviation incidents to concerned personnel for corrective action.
Place non-conforming raw materials, WIP & Finished products ON HOLD/Quarantine on Radius, update the Quality Log and communicate to concerned personnel.
Assist Quality Supervisor in sampling and verification of internally quarantined and customer returned non-conforming materials to identify proper disposition.
Generates and issues Certificate of Analysis directly to customer or save in the system.
Communicates discrepancies of production documentations (WI, SOP, Layout, etc.) to Management and CSR for timely correction.
Prints quality forms for production personnel if needed.
Read and replies to e-mails in timely manner.
Cooperate in the maintenance, cleanliness and organization of the Laboratory.
Cooperate during root cause analysis to identify proper corrective & preventive action.
Assist in collection, preparation and review of customer required samples.
Perform filing of quality documents/records.
Assist with team members with their responsibilities as needed or during their absence.
Attend team meetings and feedback on any quality related issues/improvements.
Assist in employee trainings, if required.
Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment. Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices & Policies.
Perform other duties as required or as requested by Supervisor or Manager.

Provide daily quality pass-down reports and keep leads/supervisors informed about inspection outcomes.
Initiate and review Technical Inquiries for discrepancies; ensure no jobs commence without proper authorization.
Assist in addressing bottleneck areas as directed by Supervisor, Engineer, or Manager.
Escalate unresolved issues to the Quality Manager.
Adhere to and enforce all procedures related to ESD, MSD handling, housekeeping, maintenance, safety, and inspection protocols.
Propose and support continuous process and quality improvements.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Experience
Minimum of 2 years in an electronics inspection role within a contract manufacturing or similar environment.
IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification (required).
Skills
Strong understanding of IPC workmanship standards (Class 2 and 3).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and BOMs.
Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).

Job Description
The Quality Tech - Supplier Quality position is the lead point-of-contact between the DA operations team and our vendors/ suppliers, and is responsible for overall performance and improvements in supplier quality and material quality. This position works within the Distributive Assembly (DA) and Riverside Quality System, and uses root cause analysis techniques, and trend/ statistical analysis to assist in the continual improvement of the DA's manufacturing processes.
This individual will also assist in solving problems, controlling variables, and providing candid & accurate feedback that are critical to quality. They will be expected to lead continuous improvement activities and teams focused on improving material quality within the DA.
Organizational Relationship:
This position will report to the Quality Manager as a member of the Continuous Improvement and Quality Department.
Accountabilities:
* Request, coordinate and track through completion vendor corrective actions
* Develop new metrics and processes to improve material quality (for example: First Pass Yield)
* Able to access and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
* Able to complete and publish End-of-Month Vendor Scrap Reports
* Audit incoming and in-process pallets for non-conforming material
* Audit current processes for identification of defects in material goods and process execution
* Coordinate processing of non-conforming material into quarantine receiving "red zone" and/or vendor scrap area
* Maintain accountability over quarantined material and expedite disposition through vendors
* Actively participate in Process, Shipping and Out-of-Box Audits and work towards resolution of open items
* Interacts with Leadership in the identification and resolution of product quality problems
* Frequently interacts with internal and external customers to resolve quality problems
* Coordinate return of defective material to vendors with Materials/Supply group
* Audit and evaluate pallets of non-conforming material and reconcile discrepancies between actual inventory and tally report sheets
* Capture defect data, analyze, and identify/communicate trends with recommended countermeasures for resolution.
* Coach employees on proper processing of "scrap" materials and with proper repair techniques
* Periodically review specifications and Standard Operating Sheets (SOS) etc. for accuracy and revisions
* Support Riverside DA employees and Leadership as needed to interpret specifications and solve problems
* Assist with creating quality standards and visual aids, and training associates on their intended use
* Participate in Kaizen improvement events, especially those focused on quality
* Generate, modify, and complete Standard Operating Sheets (SOS)
* Support Annual Physical Inventories
* Support root cause investigations in collaboration with Quality Technician.
* Perform Pick Cart Audits
* Review and respond to Hour By Hour Supplier related defects being reported.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Excellent written and oral communications skills
* Skilled in Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), with expertise in Excel preferred
* Ability to apply and interpret basic statistical data
* Must be detail-oriented with the ability to discern colors and see defects from arm's length away

Physical Requirements

* A combination of bending, reaching, squatting/stooping, standing and walking for up to nine hours per day
* The ability to operate a manual pallet jack
* The ability to work safely and wear proper PPE, which includes, but is not limited to: Safety glasses, ear plugs, task-specific gloves, bump cap or hardhat, and steel toed safety shoes
* The ability to work in a hot and/or dusty environment
SHIFTS:
* 1st shift hours: Monday - Thursday 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM, You will normally work this shift, however may need to work on Fridays based on company needs.
