Role Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer, and food requirements. The QA Technician is responsible for conducting food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with best practices for food safety and quality. The QA Technician reports to the QA Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to develop, write, and maintain plant SOP program.
Responsible for meeting all applicable food and supplement regulations (international, national, state, and local).
Responsible for sampling, testing, and documentation of the procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Works to maintain the safety, legality, and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture.
Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
Works to reduce customer/consumer complaints for supplements manufactured on site.
Reports safety and quality issues to plant leadership.
Authorized to hold products based on food safety or quality non-conformance.
Participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects.
Participates in physical inspections on a weekly basis in each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).
Selects food items for analysis at specific stages in the production process for evaluating compliance to specification.
Able to use the following instrumentation/measuring devices: Thermometers, Metal detectors, X-ray devices, Calculators, Scales, Gauges, Calipers, Rulers, Moisture analyzers, Ovens.
Responsible for assuring materials are received from approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring.
Participates in the Environmental Monitoring Programs (i.e., collecting swab samples, using the ATP system).
Able to print finished supplement case labels.
Ensures appropriate communication of food safety/QA issues with Production.
Other duties may be assigned, and QA Technician is expected to effectively manage and execute changes.
Qualifications
Effective work ethic and good communications skills.
Required: College coursework and experience in the food industry.
Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points).
Training in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF.
Good writing, mathematics, and critical thinking skills.

Continuous improvement experience.
cGMP Process development and compliance enforcement.
Regularly required to climb, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
Use a computer keyboard and monitor more than 25% of total work time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and extreme heat/cold.

The Quality Technician position at FLUIDRA will be responsible (under limited supervision) for maintaining quality standards by reviewing, analyzing and disposition of incoming and in-process materials resulting from customer returned products (RMA Analysis) and/or internally rejected materials (MRB) from any area within the Supply Chain process (Receiving, manufacturing, warehouse / handling and inspection areas), recording any quality results and maintaining quality records per company policy. The QC Inspector shall be experienced in writing NCMR's (non-conforming material reports through Oracle preferably) and documenting Corrective Actions Reports for Quality Engineers as well as utilizing emails to communicate these rejections/CARs to buyers and Supplier's when needed.
This person will interact with material handlers on a day-to-day basis as well as with Receiving, Production Planning/Scheduling and Inventory Control teams to assure accurate and efficient processing/movement of non-conforming materials both physically and in the ERP system which will include acceptance and disposition into the appropriate sub-inventory location of products mainly via the FLUIDRA MRB Meetings. At the same time, this person will ensure both the RMA and MRB areas are appropriately organized and cleaned including accuracy of product as per Oracle inventory requirements.
This person will also support the Receiving Inspection area/process with material handling support to QC Inspectors when needed as well as visual inspections when materials require either sample or 100% inspections. Other duties or changes may apply depending on company/business needs. Additionally, you will:
Responsible for routinely conducting departmental Quality and/or Safety Audits
Perform inspections for compliance with specifications using blueprints, drawings, inspection procedures, and prior knowledge of fabrication methods to evaluate if deficiencies are present in systems, structures, assemblies, or parts.
Conduct in-process and final inspections at various checkpoints during maintenance activities. This includes installations or repairs of removed, disassembled, repaired, and assembled equipment; installation of structures, systems, and associated components; equipment to eliminate work hold-ups and rework; and to ensure conformance to specified requirements.
Interpret inspection acceptance/rejection criteria to identify discrepancies and non-conformances. Assemble pertinent information and materials necessary to effectively accomplish planning, scheduling, inspections, and reporting of inspection results. Interpretation and judgment of the acceptance/rejection of an item is based on a review of the work against the written requirements. Judgment and interpretation is based on training and experience.
Conduct training of lower level and same level inspection personnel by demonstrating the proper techniques for performing Quality Control inspection, interpreting inspection results, documenting inspection results, documenting non-conformances, and reviewing and closing out of completed work order tasks and associated inspection documentation.
Evaluate the adequacy of specific programs used to train and test inspection, examination, and testing personnel.
Develop, write, review, and approve inspection, examination, and testing procedures and evaluate the adequacy of such procedures to accomplish the inspection, examination, and test objectives.
Conduct surveillances, observations and submit reports and recommendations. Analyze data from surveillances and observations of work activities and documentation to identify problems. Summarize data and major points and submit reports to management for review and action. Maintain files, charts, and status reports on progress of inspections and documentation.
Assist in developing new procedural controls to address the quality control aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Perform independent oversight of S.R. Smith programs and processes through use of performance-based techniques. Responsible for written and verbal reporting of the conclusions of the assessments under the cognizance of a lead auditor.
Routinely monitor plant and industry information to remain cognizant of assigned technical areas, and interface with line personnel, industry contacts, and regulatory agencies.

WHAT WE SEEK
5+ years of quality control inspection experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform at this level.
Must have experience both in MRB and RMA's areas including analysis and disposition of product as well as accurate segregation to prevent unintended use.
The ability to interpret engineering specifications/drawings for disposition of products.
Interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills sufficient to organize, maintain and collaborate with other departments to accurately complete paperwork, understands documentation and effectively communicates with fellow employees for disposition of products.
Extreme attention-to-detail, especially in the documentation of Non-Conforming product, Corrective Actions and disposition of materials.

The Sub Fabrication Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for overseeing sub-fabricators quality programs to assure best quality product will be fabricated to the job specifications and Cooper Steel's standards. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production.
Collaborate with sub-fabricators to prevent and resolve quality issues and promote continuous improvement.
Visit sub-fabrication shops to monitor and verify adherence to AISC and/or company quality standards.
Audit sub-fabricators' quality documentation, including inspection reports, NDT records, welder qualifications, and MTRs, with stricter processes for non-AISC-certified companies.
Confirm that sub-fabricators maintain accurate material traceability and current certifications.
Identify nonconformances, document findings, and assist with corrective actions.
Maintain records on sub-fabricators in accordance with company procedures.
Review the company's Approved Sub-Fabricator List based on performance and compliance, including NCR tracking.
Communicate inspection results and concerns to the QA Manager and project teams promptly and professionally.
Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks assigned.
Provide evaluations and recommendations on performance of systems and operations.
Stay current with relevant AISC, AWS, and ASTM standards.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience in quality or fabrication in the structural steel industry.
Working knowledge of AISC 207, AISC 360, AISC 303 and AWS D1.1.
Familiarity with NDT methods, welding processes, and fabrication documentation.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to sub-fabricator locations.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification (preferred).
Experience with AISC certification programs and audits (preferred).
OTHER SKILLS
Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to work effectively with others; computer literate; highly developed organizational, planning and oral and written communication skills. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.

Position is primarily in a typical office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The position performs work occasionally in a Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Associates must accurately record and report this data to operations and provide corrective and containment assistance to the manufacturing team. Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations
* Collect accurate inspection data and be able to report these findings to operational personnel
