Job Summary To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Quality Control Inspector located in Dallas, Texas. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for providing quality control and assurance throughout all phases of the production process, with a focus on mechanical and wiring. Other phases include inspections of raw materials, in-process, and final products. Products and materials are related to switchgear, relay panels, substation enclosers, sheet metal, welding, paint and other components. Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Responsibilities: Performs visual inspections and other specified tests of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to confirm product meets drawings and specifications Verifies and documents the condition and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies. Uses observation and testing to identify faults in materials and manufacturing process Documents inspection results by completing inspection reports, logs, and checklists Documents corrective action requests and inputs data into corrective action database. Communicates with supervisor to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questions regarding products Maintain quality records as needed Keeps inspection and measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; and notifying management when repairs are necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years' experience of quality inspections in fabrication/manufacturing environment, particularly in welding Thorough understanding of the product and/or process being inspected (welding) Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical documents Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail with the task at hand Demonstrated proficiency with the ability to safely operate powered equipment (forklift, reach truck, etc.) Proficient in Microsoft Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks. The inspector should ensure all work scope instructions, quality and regulatory requirements are complied with. * All inspection personnel must maintain proficiency in the use of various types of inspection aids, tools and gages routinely used for inspection of each item undergoing inspection. * Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts replacements in compliance with regulatory requirements.     Ameritex Machine and Fabrication is a high mix low volume sheet metal and structural fabrication facility that uses a variety of equipment such as CNC Fiber Lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes, and tube lasers to support over 19 production and assembly lines. The company serves customers in energy, oil and gas, automotive, electric vehicle, and aerospace. We operate out of a state of the art 100,000 sqft facility in Conroe, Texas. Job Responsibilities \tAddresses daily quality concerns and questions \tTroubleshoots manufacturing problems and quality issues \tWork closely with operation teams to ensure process controls are in place and adequate to meet standard requirements \tEnsure any non-conforming product is properly identified, quarantined and communicated \tExamines material or product for surface defects such as crack, pits, and incomplete welds \tVerifies specified dimensions of product or material \tConduct incoming material inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection to procedures, specifications, drawings, samples, or illustrations. \tMust be able to follow instructions and work independently \tCleaning, organizing, and setting up workstations \tKitting or grouping required parts per job requirements \tMust be able to easily multitask around the shop.     /OBJECTIVE The QC Inspector will be responsible for approving incoming, in-process, and finished materials according to Internal and Customer requirements. The QC inspector will also be responsible for creating and documenting inspection results, taking measurements, and tracking non-conforming product. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reports to QC Leadperson and/or Supervisor for daily activities and workload. Perform and document dimensional and visual checks of production parts and incoming goods and creating inspection reports to internal and customer requirement. Responsible for notifying Quality Control Leadperson and/or Supervisor, in addition to Manufacturing and Engineering personnel, of non-conforming goods. Inspect customer supplied material, per specified drawings. Inspecting and gathering product documentation, final document packets, material heat reports as required. Inspection of buy-out materials. Make First Article inspection and document inspection results. Log and verify traceability packets. Implement and practice Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, increased productivity, and eliminating waste. Maintain 5S checklist as it applies to your work area. Perform other related duties assigned by QA Manager or QC Leadperson or QC Supervisor. Other Requirements An annual vision examination is required. Must have experience with the use of measuring instruments in the completion of dimensional inspections. (Calipers, micrometers, CMM, Pi tapes, Optical comparators, etc.) Must follow company safety procedures at all times. Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills. Must be able to visually inspect materials and manufactured products. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 3 ft. high.
