Job Description
FRANKLIN INDUSTRIES is looking to hire a Weights and Measures Inspector to its Quality team. This position is essential to the company's success by collaborating with the quality team, production departments, and other company stakeholders to ensure our customers receive a quality product.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Back-up to Quality Manager for critical daily tasks and incidents
Emergency Back-up for the Mill Inspector
Ensure daily checks on scales are being performed and conduct annual calibrations
Hold production managers responsible for preventive maintenance on the scales
Ensure that all permits necessary for operating scales are maintained and posted as required
Present for startup of daily mill operations, in conjunction with the Mill Inspector
Direct and provide guidance to the Mill Inspector as needed.
Responsible for inspecting material as it proceeds through the Mill and Shear processes
Observe and maintain all tolerances on mill products
Communicate potential problems to downstream production departments
Report and document product dimensions
Perform ISO Audits assigned
Perform gage calibration to ANSI standards throughout the plant and document in Gage Tracker Database as needed
Perform weekly physical properties testing (Tensile)
Train Mill Inspector How to Perform Tensile Tests
Inspect material for powder coating and galvanizing at least twice daily
Inspect product samples before shipment to customers, complete certification of those samples, and ensure those samples truly represent the product line
Provide feedback/findings to ensure proper adjustments and verify the effectiveness of the adjustments made
Investigate and determine the amount and scope of nonconforming products in production departments
Tag nonconforming material and notify Material Review Board (MRB) of occurrences
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Previous experience performing quality inspections throughout and after the production process is necessary
Previous experience in completing certificates of conformance is necessary
Formal training in product quality management is preferred
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, especially in a steel mill, would be a plus.

Must be a self-starter and be able to stay on-task with little-to-no supervision
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment

WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a safety-sensitive position which requires the employee to work around and/or operate heavy machinery. This position will require the employee to work around moving mechanical parts and vibrations. This position will require the employee to be in the presence of fumes, gasses, fluids, and chemicals. PPE, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, and gloves are required to perform this job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
