This role directs the investigation of problem batches to discern the root cause and develop sustainable solutions. They actively participate in quality continuous improvement efforts. The Plant Quality Manager leads the introduction and implementation of new formulas, technology, quality tools, manufacturing processes, and training.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have at least five (5) years of work experience in R&D, product development, quality control/assurance or operations

Preferred Qualifications:
Have at least one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams
Have a Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, etc.)

The Associate Quality Manager is charged with assisting the Quality Control Manager in carrying out duties and responsibilities to ensure acceptable product quality at each phase of the manufacturing process. The Associate Quality Manager ensures a timely and orderly distribution of quality cement to our valued customer base. Managing timely receipt and quality of raw materials associated with challenges imposed by current environmental regulations is a necessity. Participates in the improvement of the Plant's technical capabilities. This position has a requirement of elevating the technical knowledge and practices of all facets of the operation. In this regard, the Associate Quality Manager will be fundamental to completing the technical triangle of quality-production-maintenance. In the absence of the QC Manager, the Coordinator assumes responsibility and authority for that position.
Role & Responsibilities
Supervise lab operators, lab facility and maintaining QC equipment
Perform all tasks safely and efficiently. Observes safety regulations and always established operational procedures. Promotes safety practices and efforts throughout the plant.
Maintains close contact with all phases of plant operation and informs the appropriate personnel of situations detrimental to product quality and production.
Initiate, direct and participate in studies designed to optimize cement manufacturing.
Monitors quality of incoming raw materials and fuels.
Balances rates of additives used to maintain quality and minimize cost.
Performs method development for new laboratory analysis.
Provide leadership and training for quality and production members to meet Customer expectations, plant objectives, DOT, AASHTO and ASTM Standards.
Identify and record quality problems; initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels; and verify the implementation of solutions.
Maintain effective relations with customer services, sales and all plant departments.
Generate administrative paperwork associated with general laboratory and operations management.
Utilize statistical tools along with computer systems and automated analysis equipment to assist in process and product evaluation.
Initiate, participate in and direct audits as required.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or other related field with three (3) years' experience in a cement or other related industry OR an appropriate combination of education and experience.
Experience/Skills Requirements:
Prefer minimum 3 years' experience in cement quality control or process engineering.
Prior experience in a cement-manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities for quality product compliance.
Complete working knowledge of all equipment in laboratory

A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Regional Quality Manager (RQM) is responsible for providing Quality Assurance guidance and support to their respective manufacturing locations. This includes indirect supervision or strong dotted line reporting structure between the RQM and plant quality personnel. This dotted line reporting structure ensures the RQM's have a voice in plant quality activities. As such, the RQM will provide quality related guidance directly to plant quality personnel. Additionally, the RQM is expected to work with plant management to help them understand how their plants are performing relative to quality requirements, and work with them on areas of opportunity. The RQM works directly with the plant quality representatives to evaluate quality metrics, which includes evaluating Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) data, identifying areas of opportunity, and implementing solutions. At times the RQM provides high-level guidance, participates as part of a factory led team, or lead events. RQM's also support QMS compliance, participate in and/or lead third party and customer audits, RCCA (root cause and corrective Action) review and approval, contract review, etc. The incumbent must be capable of distinguishing between Quality requirements that may vary significantly between the ESS and Utility divisions, different market channels present within each division, design types, special customer requirements and several national or international welding and inspection standard guidelines or codes. Essential Functions:
This position reports into Vice President of Concrete and has no direct reports
This role requires travel to the different concrete plants throughout North America. While the amount of travel will ebb and flow, it is reasonable to assume travel time may be 25%- 50%
Assess all quality metrics to determine where the best opportunities are to reduce cost (e.g., CoPQ, FPY, field issues, etc.)
Provide overall QA guidance to manufacturing site quality personnel
Guide and support QC teams at respective manufacturing plants to recognize, prevent, and correct defects before they reach the customer
Provide containment, root cause, and corrective action guidance to respective plants
Work with plant quality personnel to understand and evaluate quality metrics
Provide guidance to plant management relative to plant performance as it relates to quality

**A Brief Summary of This Position:**
The Regional Quality Manager (RQM) is responsible for providing Quality Assurance guidance and support to their respective manufacturing locations. This includes indirect supervision or strong dotted line reporting structure between the RQM and plant quality personnel. This dotted line reporting structure ensures the RQM's have a voice in plant quality activities. As such, the RQM will provide quality related guidance directly to plant quality personnel. Additionally, the RQM is expected to work with plant management to help them understand how their plants are performing relative to quality requirements, and work with them on areas of opportunity. The RQM works directly with the plant quality representatives to evaluate quality metrics, which includes evaluating Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) data, identifying areas of opportunity, and implementing solutions. At times the RQM provides high-level guidance, participates as part of a factory led team, or lead events. RQM's also support QMS compliance, participate in and/or lead third party and customer audits, RCCA (root cause and corrective Action) review and approval, contract review, etc. The incumbent must be capable of distinguishing between Quality requirements that may vary significantly between the ESS and Utility divisions, different market channels present within each division, design types, special customer requirements and several national or international welding and inspection standard guidelines or codes. * On Design-Build projects, assist with design reviews and contract document/code conformance.
* Complete responsibility for the entire MEP & FP submittal process.
* Assure that the contract obligations' for testing and record keeping are adhered to.
* Control calibrated measuring and test equipment used on the project.
* Keep calibration records and ensure that all testing equipment has current calibration records. Ensure proper turnover of complete quality control package(s). Responsible for ensuring that turnover documentation is maintained, organized and turned over on schedule.
* Maintain project quality records for the construction phase of the project and quality audit plans, performance and management thereof.
* Perform evaluations of sub-contractors' facilities to determine their capabilities in meeting the quality requirements.
* Conduct periodic Quality Program training for site supervisory personnel.
* All other duties as normally required by our QC Department, and as required by day-to-day business.
* Work with in precise limits and standards of accuracy
* Work within the BLHI company policy, BLHI Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Requirements:
* Five (5) years of formal training and experience on industrial, commercial, or federal projects.
* Must have a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and controls systems as it pertains to installation, coordination, operation, and start-up and commissioning.
* Ability to effectively interact with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and craft employees.
* Must be capable of obtaining or possess inspection licenses and/or certifications as required
