The Aerospace Quality Engineer Manager support the QA activities of the Huntsville production team (Quality, Engineering, Production, and Operations). You will have direct oversight of QA Technicians and Quality Engineers and is focused on the continuous improvement of quality functions throughout the plant. Reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager you will work on-site job at our Huntsville facility and will report directly to the Plant Quality Manager. Key Responsibilities Directly Manage a team of QC Technicians and Quality Engineers at the Huntsville plant, providing guidance on production expectations, coaching for success, and training team members in quality analysis tools and methods. Develop and implement proactive quality methodologies to transform us from reactionary to proactive, promoting continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing costs and meeting customer and our goals. Ensure the team meets audit, production, and PPG standards and procedures, maintaining companywide compliance with quality systems, including ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications, and oversees document control following these standards. Assist the Plant Quality Manager with root cause analysis of failed products, documents results, compile records, and support other quality-related investigations. Lead the implementation of quality systems in the aerospace manufacturing environment, serving as a leader in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and quality control plans, including implementing and tracking Process FMEAs. Investigate detailed production control issues related to processes, methods, standards, specifications, inspection, and testing equipment, and facilitates team member process improvement suggestions using problem-solving methods. Coordinate activities for the Non-Conformance Reporting System, Material Review Board, and Purchase Order (PO) contract review, while generating quality metrics to support departmental goals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in quality (preferred), Engineering, Production/Operations Management, or a related field OR a total of nine (9) or more total years of hands-on QA experience may substitute for the college degree required. At least five (5) years' experience working in a Quality function within an Aerospace or other regulated industry required. At least one (1) years' experience as a supervisor, team lead, or other leadership role within a Quality or laboratory environment with management responsibilities for all employees required. Prior experience with Quality management systems required. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA). Previous experience managing Quality Engineers Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis. Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff. Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness. Leads root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality. Develop quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant. Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel. Initiate and implement quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant's product lines. Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses. Participates in internal and external quality audits. Collaborate with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented. All other reasonable duties, as assigned. Basic Qualifications. Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years prior relevant experience; or master's degree with three (3) year of prior relevant experience. Additional years of direct experience working in aviation programs in support of defense contracts may be substituted for degree. Must have Ten (10+) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment. Fifteen (15+) years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree In depth knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 requirements Experience reviewing requirements on contracts and resources needed to comply to this contract Ability to review and provide quality control inputs to aviation program manuals, forms, and records. Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area. Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
