What you will do Under general supervision, analyze defective batteries to identify root causes of failures. Process auditing to identify unfavorable trends in process and product quality for the plant. Involve process engineering and production supervision as necessary to identify and correct the cause and eliminate/minimize future occurrences. Ensure day-to-day operations are carried out, correcting any irregularities. Monitor and report success of corrective actions and the statistical control process. Control and review the organization's current processes to ensure the short-term and long-term quality standards and business objectives are met.
How you will do it
* Perform in-process testing/audits.
* Perform special analysis investigations as directed.
* Prepares and distributes in-plant quality summaries and reports as required by Quality Engineering.
* Maintains health and safety practices with hazardous materials in the laboratory.
* Analysis of Batteries (Warranty & Scrap teardowns). May lift and move batteries from floor to bench level.
* Perform testing of a special nature as required by plant or Division Quality Control.
* Tear down test failures and analyze for cause. Analyze components of specified batteries for physical make-up according to established quality control and laboratory procedures.
* Record and compute test results to conform to established levels of compliance.
* Perform a variety of duties in manufacturing engineering sections to assist engineers where some work involves knowledge of technical aspects as distinguished from mainly clerical functions.

The Quality Technician uses specialized tools, skillsets, software and other implements to carry out quality activities at the direction of the quality supervisor. Technical activities like gaging parts, analyzing process capability/statistical process control data and controlling documents, gages and other vital records are just a few examples of what falls within the purview of the quality technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collects, records, and disseminates data and information specific to quality functions such as Layered Process Audits, Document Control, Gage R&R and similar
Responsible for updating production floor documents with performance data and distributing revised documents to the appropriate work centers/areas
Coordinates with external vendors and suppliers for quality related activities such as calibration services, acquisition of certified standards, and other tasks as deemed necessary
Assists in root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action implementation and identifying general continuous improvement opportunities within the scope of their responsibilities
