The company was founded in 1997 in Twin Falls, ID, where it has grown substantially and is expected to exceed $50M in revenue and $10M in EBITDA in 2024. The Company produced and transported ~6 million meals in 2023. Meals are currently procured, warehoused, assembled, packaged, labeled, frozen, and shipped from the company's HQ in Twin Falls, ID. However, due to recent growth, HSD plans to expand operations by opening an additional facility in the Southeastern United States in 2024.
The Quality Technician plays a vital role in monitoring and maintaining all aspects of product safety and quality that enhances the customer experience and our food safety adherence. As such, the Technician performs multiple checks on product in finished goods form and as product is processed to meet our internal standards for food safety and quality. Feedback to quality process owners (e.g. operations technicians and management) with immediate corrective actions implemented is the primary means of ensuring process quality and, subsequently, a high integrity product.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct regular quality monitoring checks to verify that all products meet customer and legal requirements. (i.e. weight control, seal monitoring, metal detection, meal configuration).
· Daily temperature checks in the production cooler/freezer and shipping freezer.
· Monitor chemicals used for cleaning and sanitation.
· Support the receiving process by monitoring incoming raw materials, inspection of carriers and support inventory control.
· Environmental Monitoring Program testing.
· Ensure sanitation of the facility follows compliance with food safety requirements.
· Monitor critical control point temperatures throughout the production process to ensure temperatures are meeting the standards outlined in the company's HACCP plan.
· Monitoring use and highlighting for disposal of aging finished product or work in progress.
· Collaborate with colleagues in Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality functions to continually improve capability and process efficiency.
· Make decisions concerning product quality, including shutting down the line when processes do not conform to specifications.
· Other duties - to help production when needed, cleaning, etc.

Role Summary

As an Associate Quality Lab Technician, you will be responsible for incoming material inspections and testing as well as materials produced in-house. This position will challenge you to work as a team to set, achieve, and maintain goals including daily inspection times. The QC Inspector shall be experienced in writing NCMR's (non-conforming material reports through Oracle preferably) and documenting Corrective Actions Reports for Quality Engineers as well as utilizing emails to communicate these rejections/CARs to buyers and Supplier's when needed.
This person will interact with material handlers on a day-to-day basis as well as with Receiving, Production Planning/Scheduling and Inventory Control teams to assure accurate and efficient processing/movement of non-conforming materials both physically and in the ERP system which will include acceptance and disposition into the appropriate sub-inventory location of products mainly via the FLUIDRA MRB Meetings. At the same time, this person will ensure both the RMA and MRB areas are appropriately organized and cleaned including accuracy of product as per Oracle inventory requirements.
This person will also support the Receiving Inspection area/process with material handling support to QC Inspectors when needed as well as visual inspections when materials require either sample or 100% inspections. Other duties or changes may apply depending on company/business needs. Additionally, you will:
Responsible for routinely conducting departmental Quality and/or Safety Audits
Perform inspections for compliance with specifications using blueprints, drawings, inspection procedures, and prior knowledge of fabrication methods to evaluate if deficiencies are present in systems, structures, assemblies, or parts.
Conduct in-process and final inspections at various checkpoints during maintenance activities. This includes installations or repairs of removed, disassembled, repaired, and assembled equipment; installation of structures, systems, and associated components; equipment to eliminate work hold-ups and rework; and to ensure conformance to specified requirements.
Interpret inspection acceptance/rejection criteria to identify discrepancies and non-conformances. Assemble pertinent information and materials necessary to effectively accomplish planning, scheduling, inspections, and reporting of inspection results. Interpretation and judgment of the acceptance/rejection of an item is based on a review of the work against the written requirements. Judgment and interpretation is based on training and experience.
Conduct training of lower level and same level inspection personnel by demonstrating the proper techniques for performing Quality Control inspection, interpreting inspection results, documenting inspection results, documenting non-conformances, and reviewing and closing out of completed work order tasks and associated inspection documentation.
Evaluate the adequacy of specific programs used to train and test inspection, examination, and testing personnel.
Develop, write, review, and approve inspection, examination, and testing procedures and evaluate the adequacy of such procedures to accomplish the inspection, examination, and test objectives.
Conduct surveillances, observations and submit reports and recommendations. Analyze data from surveillances and observations of work activities and documentation to identify problems. Summarize data and major points and submit reports to management for review and action. Maintain files, charts, and status reports on progress of inspections and documentation.
Assist in developing new procedural controls to address the quality control aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Perform independent oversight of S.R. Smith programs and processes through use of performance-based techniques. Responsible for written and verbal reporting of the conclusions of the assessments under the cognizance of a lead auditor.
Routinely monitor plant and industry information to remain cognizant of assigned technical areas, and interface with line personnel, industry contacts, and regulatory agencies.

WHAT WE SEEK
5+ years of quality control inspection experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform at this level.
Must have experience both in MRB and RMA's areas including analysis and disposition of product as well as accurate segregation to prevent unintended use.
The ability to interpret engineering specifications/drawings for disposition of products.
Interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills sufficient to organize, maintain and collaborate with other departments to accurately complete paperwork, understands documentation and effectively communicates with fellow employees for disposition of products.

The QC Tech provides data collection and reporting for all manufacturing assembly operations. Associates must accurately record and report this data to operations and provide corrective and containment assistance to the manufacturing team. Note that this role includes a sign on $500 bonus at the completion of 120 Days.
Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations
Collect accurate inspection data and be able to report these findings to operational personnel
Maintain a safety and customer service mindset at all times
Assure that analytical equipment is in good working order and that inspections and maintenance activities are executed on schedule
Manage QC audit routes and complete requirements by their scheduled completion
Identify, correct, and document discrepancies
Notify customer with concerns and work collectively with manufacturing and technical personnel to resolve issues
Document and report non-conformances and identify equipment trends
Serve as a back-up for other QC Techs
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Meet or exceed all site contractor requirements, including random drug screening, safety practices, ethical conduct, and any other appropriate requirements
Effectively communicate with management, maintenance, and other employees in a timely manner when quality activities dictate action
Develop proficiency to train and coach others
May perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Site Manager
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
High School degree or equivalent
Fluency in English (written and spoken) required
High speed manufacturing machine experience preferred
Electrical, Mechanical, or QC/QA background preferred
Must demonstrate excellent customer service
Must demonstrate self motivation, initiative, honesty, integrity, and attention to detail
Ability to identify best practices and bring innovation to the work environment
Must be able to learn basic electrical and mechanical concepts
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as assigned

JOB FUNCTION:
Check the quality of incoming and outgoing products, as well as ensure that the merchandise is within the company's specifications and standards. This job involves tasks such as performing inspections of clothing and footwear, running quality tests, and keeping records of defects.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Follow audit procedures for incoming audits and outgoing audits.
Record and report all findings. Ability to complete related forms legibly.
Ability to understand and interpret basic arithmetic.
Reject items that does not meet company standards.
Re-audit lots if necessary
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Any other assigned tasks.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience with Microsoft office required.
2 years college or experience preferred.
Background in textile quality control preferred (Willing to train)
Color distinction and color validation experience a plus. (Willing to train)
Experience using a standard tape measure.
