The Process Engineer will assist in feasibility studies and implementing process improvements and will create necessary documentation and aides in communication to personnel. This role will be a full-time position based out of our Paris, KY office. The Process Engineer reports directly to the VP, North America Manufacturing. He/she interfaces with both management and union personnel from various levels. They also work closely with manufacturing, understanding the processes and the cause-and effect-relationship of the manufacturing cycle. Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of basic problem-solving tools (DMAIC) and lean manufacturing concepts (kanbans, kaizen, 5S) desired. General knowledge of chemistry and high purity chemical processing/engineering, and microelectronic applications required. Knowledge of OSHA, NFPC, HazWoper, and other governmental regulatory requirements (e.g., Strong competency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Demonstrated complex problem solving expertise and application of SPC tools and implementation. Working knowledge and experience in distillation and separation purification technologies, chemical synthesis unit operations, process control, environmental control systems, and clean manufacturing. Working knowledge of financial/cost systems and standard operating procedures process. Knowledge of FDA, cGMP, ISO 9000 and applicable state and federal environmental regulations. Interfaces with Engineering, Maintenance, R&T, and other clients; participates in routine communication between each of these groups and the business driving continuous improvement projects while providing clear technology direction and operational production support. Collaborates with Production Leadership, Procurement and external vendors to implement/lead business improvement plans. Accountable for product quality, safety, non-conforming product disposition, process throughput, waste minimization, training/skill usage of hourly employees, yield improvement, investigation and reduction of production variances for identified products/processes. Accountable for tracking process reliability, developing corrective action reports and complaint responses, implement process improvements and corrective actions. Works in conjunction with all plant engineering disciplines, R&T and customers to support new products and new manufacturing technology platforms in operations. Directs contractors and hourly employees to monitor processes, collect data, install equipment and make process modifications. Develops and implements metrics to monitor and improve process safety, performance of equipment, processes, and/or overall product quality trends to reduce process variability. May develop, design and implement capital projects to support plant initiatives. Provides timely and effective data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action execution in response to process trends or out of control data points, or any other issues as they arise with platinum-level customer products. Leads multi-functional process capability improvement, MOC and validation efforts. The work environment is a manufacturing facility, and the appropriate PPE will be required in designated areas.     Job Description Summary/Objective: The Technical Service/Quality Control Technician implements and complies with quality assurance methods and procedures to ensure products and materials are produced in accordance with specifications. Essential Functions: Perform specimen tests of concrete from random loads or for special jobs or mixes; prepare test reports as required. Oversee unique jobs to ensure product standards are met, i.e., jobs that have restrictive specifications or require large quantities of material to be delivered. Perform aggregates and batch plants tests including daily graduation and moisture tests on all concrete being produced for State and spec projects. Certify concrete loads being delivered to "spec" jobs in accordance with SHA specifications; check loads for proper procedure and time of mixing. Perform quality assurance tests on trial batches of new concrete mix designs under close tolerance conditions and make adjustments until mixture meets specifications. Troubleshoot problems with customers, analyze and evaluate specific conditions, situations, quantities, etc., and provide appropriate resolution. Provide technical assistance and training to plant managers, equipment and yard operators, and drivers when requested. Perform laboratory tests including gradation, moisture, lightweight particles and specific gravity tests on aggregates. Select samples for materials that need certification by an outside laboratory or that are beyond the department capability. Transport these samples to the testing agency. Perform additional tasks such as cleaning facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness, moving equipment and materials, and completing tasks for other positions when incumbent is absent. Assist the Technical Services Manager and Assistant Manager as needed. Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Work Environment: Work time will be split between indoors/office and outdoors/field Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells. Exposure to chemicals such as concrete, chemical admixtures. Close proximity to moving mechanical parts. Noise level will be moderate to loud. What You'll Do: Inspect and approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods against engineering drawings and specifications. Perform visual and dimensional inspections using height gages, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and other precision measurement tools. Document inspection results through reports, logs, and database entries, including rework and scrap tracking. Communicate nonconformances to affected parties and follow up for required adjustments. Issue Corrective Actions where appropriate based on internal guidelines. Maintain and manage all production gauges; performing in-house calibration where possible and coordinating third-party calibration when necessary. Verify proper operation of gauges; manage inspection and repair as required. Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements. Maintain SOPs for the Quality department, making revisions and updates as needed. Assist with auditing internal work procedures and making recommendations to address non-conformances. Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality systems and reduce rework. ???? What We're Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in STEM or related coursework preferred. 1-3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, engineering or manufacturing role is preferred. Some experience in reading blueprints and using measurement tools is required. Strong working knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and thread gauges. Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and industry specifications such as ANSI, ASTM, API and 3A. Familiarity with quality documentation, reporting, and data entry. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills. ????
