SUMMARY Under general supervision, is responsible for devoting their attention to the care and development of the people we support in one of the Agency's residential facilities. Interacts in a manner which fosters dignity and learning in a way that helps lead to greater independence. Helps create a homelike atmosphere for the people we support in an agency facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Residence Program Specialist will include but are not limited to the following: Provides care and assists with personal development and independence of the people we support. Ensures that all measures for safety and well-being are maintained at highest level. Provides training for the people we support in activities of daily living and in development of self-help and social skills. Maintains a personalized, homelike atmosphere in the residential facility. Attends weekly staff meetings as well as any other assigned meetings and in-service trainings. Prepares concise written reports including Incident Reports, Progress Notes and other reports as assigned. Responds to crisis situations and medical emergencies, including accidents by taking quick and decisive action. Ensures actions are conducted in a manner that prevents abuse, and reports observations of co-workers who may be abusive in accordance with established procedures. Administers appropriate first aid based on visible symptoms and medical history of the people we support in accordance with established guidelines and accepted first aid practices. Summons police, fire, ambulance or other emergency personnel if situation warrants it. If an emergency has caused a person we support to exhibit behavior that is threatening or dangerous, may have to utilize strategies for crisis intervention in accordance with OPWDD approved Behavior Management guidelines. Provides transportation for the people we support in agency vehicles to and from work, shopping, programs, restaurants, movies, doctor's appointments, etc. Assists with meal planning and preparation as well as with purchasing of food and supplies. Demonstrates an understanding of and implements behavioral programs. Participates fully as a member of interdisciplinary plan. Maintains an ongoing informal exchange of information. Maintains written logs for recording daily activities. Performs housekeeping, cooking, laundry, light maintenance and light preventative maintenance duties as needed to maintain a safe and homelike environment. Supervises any other activities as may be necessary to maintain quality of the program. Dispenses prescribed medications to the people we support after successful completion of the medication administration course, and in line with Agency protocol. AMAP's are supervised by residential nurse in all areas related to medication administration. Completes all activities related to skill buildings as outlined in individual program plans Provides support around personal hygiene, i.e. toileting, bathing and changing as needed. Handles all personal documents of the people we support in a secure and confidential manner. Performs related duties as requested. Company Drivers are responsible for overseeing and leading Armstrong's full-cycle transportation initiatives, including, but not limited to packing, padding, inventory, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking. The Driver will either operate a tractor trailer (CDL A), or a straight truck (CDL B), or a small truck towing a trailer (CDL C) to receive, store, and distribute equipment and goods. SUMMARY Under general supervision, is responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in accordance with ADAPT Community Network policies, the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and the standards of the profession. Monitors treatment plan and progress, provides training to residential staff, and conveys techniques to others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Residential will include but are not limited to the following: Serves as a member of interdisciplinary team and is responsible for coordinating and following through on provisions of health care services for assigned residences. Conducts training for staff in medical administration, personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, signs and symptoms of illness and other in-services as may be necessary to meet needs of individuals in each residence. Handles control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment, reporting to consulting physician and implementation of appropriate protective and preventive measures and staff training regarding infection control. Develops, supervises implementation of, reviews and revises each resident's written health care plan that is developed and implemented according to instructions of a physician and assessment. This plan should be reviewed and revised as needed. Integrates therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or home of person served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at team meetings, case conferences or through other informal contacts. Develops a written plan for each person we support to provide nursing services as a part of total habilitation programs. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews as required by each division. Monitors required staff health records and provides tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements. Provides immediate first aid with referral to outside emergency services or private physician. Maintains a tickler for all appointments. Schedules appointments and follows up on physicians' recommendations. Makes recommendations as changes occur. Keeps up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data via progress notes. Administers medications when appropriate and supervises AMAP certified staff in medication administration. Supervises all medication prescribed for individuals in accordance with agency policies. Provides supervision and training for Licensed Practical Nurses and/or less experienced Registered Nurses during their tenure at agency. Monitors progress for self-administration of medication. Obtains consents for surgery of residents. Reviews all diagnostic work and consults. Attends team meetings as scheduled. Attends to individuals' medical conditions and quarterly examinations as indicated. Keeps abreast of changes in Nursing field. Participates in medical reviews for individuals. Carries agency cell phone and is on-call, responds to questions regarding physician treatment plans. Performs other related duties as requested.
