This Queens Connect program is designed to recruit, train, place, and retain New York City residents in unsubsidized employment with a focus on long-term job stability. The program will recruit and enroll 53 eligible NYC residents, providing initial workforce readiness and career navigation services. Of those enrolled, 40 participants will complete occupational skills training aligned with labor market demand. The program will place at least 35 participants into unsubsidized employment at an average starting wage of $17.00 per hour. Post-placement, the program emphasizes sustained employment through structured follow-up, coaching, and supportive services to achieve retention benchmarks of 60% at 3 months, 55% at 6 months, 53% at 9 months, and 51% at 12 months after placement.
Position Overview:
The Retention Specialist is responsible for supporting participants through job placement, retention, and re-placement to promote sustained unsubsidized employment and long-term workforce attachment. This role provides post-placement coaching, employer engagement, and replacement job placement services to ensure participants meet program retention benchmarks at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after initial placement.
Key Responsibilities:
Placement, Retention & Replacement Services
Support initial placement efforts in coordination with job developers and training staff, ensuring participants are appropriately matched to unsubsidized employment opportunities.
Provide structured follow-up services to all placed participants at 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month milestones post-placement.
Maintain regular contact with participants to assess job performance, attendance, satisfaction, and workplace challenges.
Identify early warning signs of job instability and intervene with coaching, problem-solving, and supportive services.
Provide placement services for participants who lose employment, including rapid reassessment, job search assistance, and placement into new unsubsidized employment.
Support participants seeking advancement, increased hours, or improved job matches when appropriate.
Employer Engagement
Maintain ongoing communication with employers to support successful placements and retention outcomes.
Serve as a liaison between participants and employers, as appropriate, to address performance concerns or workplace issues.
Support employers in understanding participant needs and program supports to promote long-term employment relationships.
Coaching & Supportive Services
Deliver individualized coaching on workplace communication, conflict resolution, time management, and professional conduct.
Coordinate referrals to internal and external support services to address barriers impacting job retention.
Reinforce career pathway planning and employment readiness post-placement.
Data Tracking & Reporting
Collect, maintain, and update employment, retention, wage, and performance data for all placed participants.
Document placement, retention, replacement, and follow-up activities in the program's data management system.
Support accurate and timely reporting of outcomes aligned with funder and contract requirements.
Partner Coordination
Accept and support referrals from other Jobs to Build On providers and community partners.
Provide referring organizations with timely updates on participant status, placement, and retention outcomes.
Coordinate with program staff to ensure continuity across recruitment, training, placement, retention, and re-placement phases.
Additional Duties:

Qualifications:
HS Diploma/GED Required. Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
3 - 5 years of experience in workforce development.
Experience in creating successful employer partnerships within the Human Service industry; NYC Shelter employment experience
Experience working in performance-based programs
Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage adult learners
Prior experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals who have been incarcerated, struggled with substance use, or faced mental health challenges

Position Summary
We are seeking Queens based individuals interested in creating meaningful impact on their community. Join our team as a SYEP Facilitator in our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)! This role is ideal for passionate community members who want to inspire teens, support their growth, and help them build essential skills. The SLFs work closely with SYEP and other Queens Community House staff to deliver engaging, service-learning activities that empower participants to explore their interests and develop meaningful connections- all while enhancing your own teaching and leadership skills in a real-world setting.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate in person 2 classes a day of 12.5 hours weekly lessons using a prepared curriculum and leading workshops and seminars on service-learning topics for SYEP participants (ages 14-15) integrating subjects such as:
Financial literacy
Career and education exploration
Professional soft skills
Resume writing and interview preparation
Identifying and marketing transferable skills
Support the delivery of an engaging youth development program that aligns with QCH's mission and vision that are relatable to young adults.
Use teaching aids, such as handbooks, visual aids, computer tutorials, field trips, and sector-specific activities, to support curriculum delivery.
Assist in supervising off-site trips, ensuring participant safety and appropriate staff-to-student ratios and participant safety.
Keep accurate records and help track program performance using the provided data collection tools.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment that meets all compliance standards set by QCH, DYCD, and applicable labor laws.
Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding participant engagement, attendance, and additional support needs.
Attend supervision sessions with the SYEP Education Coordinator, weekly staff meetings, and quarterly agency-wide meetings.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Experience leading groups required. Facilitator or co-facilitator experience preferred.
Must demonstrate experience working with teens who are 14-15 years old.
Education:

We are seeking a qualified Transportation Coordinator with a strong commitment to social services and older adults to work in our Transportation Services Program.

Monitor vehicle cleanliness and communicate maintenance needs to the QCH Fleet Manager.
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to assume driving responsibilities as required to meet program needs.
Qualifications
Valid New York State Driver's License.
2+ years of driving experience in New York City.
At least 1 year of experience working in transportation.
Sensitivity and ability to work with older adults with patience and flexibility.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database tools.

Primary Responsibilities
Greet students, take attendance and supervise students during transition periods (arrival, snack time, transfer to other activities, dismissal);
Assist students in recreational and/or sports activities;
With Activity Specialist, prepare activities and materials for daily schedule and assume responsibility when necessary;
Maintain open communication with Site Director, Activity Specialist(s) and other staff;
Ensure safety of students during all activities and address occasional emergencies;
Participate in professional development opportunities and work toward leading classes independently;
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2+ years after-school, camp or classroom experience or currently pursuing a degree in education or a related field;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Uphold program expectations, policies, and safety protocols in alignment with QCH, school, and funder guidelines.
Engage and supervise a class of up to 10 scholars (ages 6-14) over a 7-week summer program.
Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that meet program goals.
Deliver the designated reading curriculum to assigned scholar groups.
Collaborate with the Educational Specialist, Director, and Assistant Directors on planning and program needs.
Communicate scheduling needs, classroom adjustments, and behavioral concerns to supervisory staff.
Model positive communication and professional conduct with scholars, families, staff, and partners.
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Set up and break down classroom spaces daily, securing all materials and equipment.
Attend weekly staff meetings and complete all required professional development.
Maintain accurate attendance and documentation.
Work collaboratively with site staff to sustain a structured, supportive environment.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Enrollment in a related college program (Education, Human Development, Sociology, Human Services) with at least two years completed.
Previous experience working with youth in after-school, camp, or similar settings.
Strong facilitation, behavior management, and conflict resolution skills.
Experience with youth leadership, community service, or civic engagement preferred.
Ability to develop and implement hands-on, project-based learning activities.
