    Description Queen's North Hawai'i Community Hospital is a 35-bed, full-service, acute-care hospital located in the heart of Waimea (Kamuela) on Hawai'i Island, at an altitude of 2,600 feet and at the base of the often snow-topped mountain of Mauna Kea. Queen's North Hawai'i Community Hospital serves more than 30,000 residents in North Hawai'i, as well as the many visitors to the island. Queen's North Hawai'i Community Hospital opened in 1996 after years of community fundraising and grassroots efforts with the mission of improving the health of the people of North Hawai'i by improving access to care. The only acute care hospitals were the state-run Hilo Medical Center and Kona Community Hospital, both approximately one hour away. With the influence of Dr. Earl Bakken, the hospital was built upon the foundation of a holistic, healing environment that focused on the body, mind and spirit, and integrative medicine. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct psychiatric care to patients referred for psychiatric care in the Queen's North Hawaii Community Hospital (QNHCH) Primary Care Clinic. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the development and implementation of programming for patients with mental illness, patients dually diagnosed with substance abuse or dependence, and the Severely Disabled Mentally III (SDMI) populations. Assists in the further development of tele-psychiatry program. Functions as a consultant to other clinical staff. Conducts in-service education programs for clinical staff as needed. Acts as an advocate and clinical liaison for the clinic/department. Performs ambulatory psychiatric assessments. Develops, reviews and updates patient ambulatory treatment plans. Review includes assessment of patient progress toward treatment plan goals and need for continued treatment. Provides medication management for patient who need psychiatric outpatient management. Completes all necessary documentation as required by clinic policy to meet The Queen's Health System (QHS), government and regulatory agency requirements. Consults with the patients' primary care provider(s) to coordinate medication and treatment issues, directs and negotiates treatment plan changes and provides documentation of the coordination of care in the medical record. Provides inpatient consults when available. Performs other clinical duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification. Current board certification in Psychiatry. If not board certified, board certification must be obtained within five (5) years from the date of completion of residency or fellowship training. Our Hospitalist team who specializes in caring for patients during their stay in the hospital. The hospitalist's primary focus is providing medical care to a patient from the time of admission until the patient leaves the hospital. We review a new patient's past medical records, notifies the primary care physician, and performs a comprehensive history and physical examination when a patient is admitted. We coordinate medical care while patients are admitted and is available to spend time with the patient and their family to discuss the patient's care. We also work with nurses, case managers, and other physicians to design and coordinate an individual treatment plan for each patient. We are fortunate to have many highly qualified Hospitalists and support staff, which means patients may have more than one Hospitalist and support staff to manage their care during their stay. About UsHospitalists and support staff at The Queen's Medical Center provide a high level of care to all patients, to help you heal faster. They monitor patient's daily care to ensure that coordinated efforts during their stay get and get them back to an optimal level of health. As patients improve and daily medical care is no longer required, studies show that patients can often make a better recovery at home. When it is determined that the patient is ready to be discharged, the patient's primary care physician will be updated on the progress and discharge plan. I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides high-quality, coordinated, comprehensive, team-based, and patient-centered care for patients of The Queen's Health System's (QHS) hospitals and clinics, and other hospitals and clinics, as applicable, in the area of Orthopedic Surgery - Spine • Responsible for diagnosing and prescribing a course of treatment, surgery, and therapy for patients with disorders, malformations, diseases and/or injuries to the musculoskeletal system, with a focus and/or interest in orthopedic spine conditions. • Engages engage in academic medical/clinical education, training, supervision, evaluation, and research. • Works cooperatively within collaborative practice models. • Supports the vision and values to enhance the provision of quality health care and optimize the health status of QHS patients, and supports The Queen's Medical Center's (QMC) mission to fulfill the intent of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai`i. Individuals interested in the structural imaging position should also maintain COCATS level III certification in echo and be proficient with imaging related to guidance of typical interventional procedures. The Queen's cardiology group, Queen's Heart Institute, supports over 500 acute care beds within the largest healthcare system in Hawaii. Our Structural Heart Team is the first and only program in the state to garner the American College of Cardiology transcatheter valve certification, offering the full spectrum of procedures, including percutaneous valve repair and replacement, left atrial appendage occluder placement, paravalvular leak closure, alternative access TAVR, and PFO repair. The full-time structural imaging position involves facilitating the structural and interventional procedures via TEE guidance.
