San Francisco-based Quizlet is a consumer learning brand that builds inspirational learning tools. Since it was founded in 2005, the company has empowered countless numbers of students and teachers to learn and teach. With a reach of over 50 million active users, Quizlet is making a major impact on global education.

The company started with a simple idea: one person, founder Anthony Sutherland, finding a creative way to study for a French quiz. After ace-ing the quiz, his friends asked how they could use the tool to help themselves as well. Fast-forward a few years and the little business that Sutherland started as a sophomore in high school has grown to a global business backed by millions of VC dollars.

On why Quizlet is so great, Sutherland said, "We've always built for students first and made sure to create something that is enjoyable and simple. We have games that are really fun, which is much more engaging and takes the stress out of more traditional methods that they maybe don't enjoy at school. We always want people to feel like Quizlet is on their side. The administrators and district side of things are really excited about it, but it's only when it actually gets into the hands of students that it feels real."
