Quotient focuses on gathering data through the company's app or from its partnerships. By turning that data into personalized targeted ads and promotions, Quotient can help consumers change their purchasing behaviors and help clients connect better with clients and consumers. By enabling clients to do so, they are able to increase their sales, target shoppers better, measure better and help their portfolio as well.

Diving Into the Values at Quotient

The company recently reevaluated its purpose, vision, and mission. Through these changes, Quotient is trying to encapsulate what it does with shopping to make lives better.

Transform lives by changing shopping

Leadership at Quotient went out to employees and asked for their opinions on the company's values. They wanted to know what employees thought success looked like at Quotient and what made a good day so good. "We weren't just told, but we were part of the story to re-envision our culture. I've not seen anything like it before," said Kim Lach, Director of Human Resources.

After a number of focus groups, conversations, and surveys with employees, leadership was able to narrow down the company's new values to 5. "For us, it's not just 5 words on the wall, but it's actually us wanting to put those values into action," said Lach.

  • Integrity
  • Customer Experience
  • Teamwork
  • Innovation
  • Sustainable growth
  • Once the values had been decided upon, leadership went back out to employees and asked how they should go about incorporating those values into their everyday lives. They followed a similar process as they did with narrowing down the values and finally landed on the company's operating principles. These will soon be released to the company.

    The Culture at Quotient

    No Division Here

In the last few months, Quotient has been working hard to make the company culture the best it can be. One of the things that came out of the culture study was that employees didn't fully understand performance pay. So now the company is spending time developing a new performance award and talent management process.

"Our culture, values, and behaviors are starting to drive organizational change," said Lach. It's shifted how we look at talent and performance within the organization."

In addition, the company started evaluating its talent and hiring practices, manager development, and training. These changes directly impact what employees are able to deliver to clients. "When we give employees more support, resources, and projects they can be innovative and challenge themselves through teamwork," said Lach. "It's been really neat seeing this tech company evolve and still have that startup culture and feel. A lot of our employees really enjoy that."

For being around for 20 years, Quotient still has that pep in its step. It's still as fast-moving and fast-paced as it was in its days when it was a much smaller company. They still have that startup feel. Employees are asked to take ownership of what they're responsible for and any innovation that they create.

All in all, Lach says the culture shift has been a great experience for the company. "I love that leadership is asking for participation and our point of view, and that it's not just something they're telling us," she said. "It's great knowing that we're headed in a direction that opens the opportunity to feel like we are best in class and a great place to work."

    The Intern at Quotient

    Where Everyone Feels Welcome

The team at Quotient welcomes everyone in with open arms, and that includes that interns. As a previous intern, Sam Criss says nothing but great things about his time as a Quotient intern. Even on his first day, the team embraced him and were ready to get to work with Criss by their side. "I never felt like another cog in a machine," he said. "Instead, I felt a sense of belonging, that I was a key contributor to the team."

The culture was yet another reason he really enjoyed his internship. The laid back, inclusive culture was an atmosphere that he was happy to be a part of. Naturally, Criss really enjoyed the extra perks to the internship like the endless snack supply and fun activities that were always taking place. All of this combined is what made Criss stay. "Overall, I had an amazing experience as an intern at Quotient and I was thrilled to receive an offer to join the marketing team full time," he said.

After they collect all of the pictures, Quotient holds a contest for everyone's favorite photo. The winner receives a national parks pass. A previous winner was a photo of an employee diving near the Galapagos Island with a Quotient sticker on their oxygen tank. It's no wonder people love going into work every day at Quotient.
